What do you think gamers shouldn't complain about?

capaho

Complaining gamers.

Gamers complaining about complaining gamers.

It seems to me that Western gamers are beginning to reject Japanese games as whole in recent years. As Western devs have become more prominent over the past two gens, Japanese games have become a little irrelevant to Western gamers. I don't think I would go as far as to call it prejudice, but it does seem like Westerners, Americans in particular, want less and less to do with Japan in recent years. Personally I think the stories of Western game are becoming just as cliched and predictable that may just be a result of reading Western lit, and playing Western games, and being familiar with the tropes.

Same old anime contrived plots. No wonder japanese games scored alot lower this gen. (not including irrelevant handheld games)

Jankarcop

i guess ignorance really is bliss. but i would understand if you really dislike handheld games and see them irrelevant. after all, nobody would like to play games they have no interest in. If you don't like handheld games you really wouldn't understand.

Fine lets put it another way. Their core system games have scored dreadfully compared to other developers, this gen.

All other arguments aside, the way a game scores amongst critics is not indicative of the game's quality. For example, Monster Hunter games tend to score medicore ratings at best, but in Japan and Korea, they're extremely popular and are consdiered some of Capcom's greatest games. I for one agree, MH games are fantastic. But Western game critics disagree. Now, of course my opinion isn't all that important either, but the point is the way a game score is irrelevant what matters is if gamers enjoy the game.

I'm guessing sony will drop the price announce some games and sales will increase. Idk why people keep saying that it'll die a premature death. There's still time to turn things around. I remember around the time that the ps3 launched everybody was saying that it was doomed and all that nonsense and look at it now.sora16perfect

The PS3 and PSP had similar problems with price when they started, but eventually the cost went down, and the systems began to compete again. Even so the PSP never really compared to the DS overall. I liked both systems, but the DS dominated the last gen of handhelds. Nintendo was smart not to change too much. They changed enough with the 3DS to catch the eye of third-party devs, without introducing so much new tech that the cost would go up too bad. Sony on the other hand packed so much into one new system that people already had doubts over that they alienated a lot of devs. Lowering the price won't change anything if the game selection doesn't improve soon. Games are what make the system worthwhile, and if Sony doesn't have solid third-party support, selling the system for ten bucks isn't going to make it more popular.

Honestly I have zero interest in the system, so I won't miss when it inevitably dies. The graphics are great, but besides that main mechanics of the system are too gimmicky. The 3DS, while not as much of a technical revolution, has a solid list of games already out, it's backwards-compatible and has what looks like a great line-up for 2013. Nintendo may have messed up their consoles but they're more-or-less dominating handhelds, and they'll continue to do so until Sony gets better games for the Vita and make it more affordable. The Vita costs more than the PS3, which is ridiculous. My condolences to Vita fans, but the future looks grim for the system.

Some of my favorite protaganists have been female: Polka, Lightning, and Lilith to name a few. As long as the character is cool, or well developed enough to be interesting for the story, I don't really care about gender.

My favorite was Harmony of Disonance. Aria of Sorrow was pretty good, but definitely not my favorite Castlevania game of all time. SoN holds that title. There was just something about Aria that bugged me, can't really recal what it was, but having played so many other games in the series, it felt out of place for some reason.

1.) Since I was four or five so about sixteen years.

2.) Sega Genesis, SNES, NES, GBC, (2) GBA, DS, DSi, PSP, 360, Wii, PC, so 12

3.) About ten 360 games which all I feel like counting, and that's not counting downloaded games.

4.) 7 or 8

5.) 12766 points

6.) Platformers used to be my favorites until my brother introduced me to Dragon Warrior, and I fell in love with RPGs.

7.) In terms of the RPGs, which I still play a lot of, I feel like the genre has been severely watered down in order to appeal to a wider audience. Many of the elements that I found endearing in RPGs others tend to find annoying (exploration, limited direction, 40+ hour story), at least that's the best reason I can think of for developers to shorten and simplify their games so much. Even Borderlands, which I really enjoyed, felt like it was holding my hand a little too much which made the whole experience less memorable.

I don't really feel rage, but I am very disappointed with the condition of the gaming industry right now. Rosy-tinted glasses aside, I feel like games as a whole have been going downhill at an accelorated pace for the past six years or so. In terms of shooters, Halo 4, and FarCry 3 give me some hope. But FF XIII-2, Dragon Age 2, and Mass Effect 3, make me wonder if the RPG genre will ever recover.

I've always been a fan of fighting games, and I've been trying to build my collection on 360 for a while. I'm pretty good at most fighters, but I've seen that most of the pros use the arcade controllers. I'm thinking about buying one, but I'm not sure if it's worth. So if anyone has one, and can give me some advice on whether or not it's a smart buy for someone wanting to be better at fighters, and also which one I might go for.

PS I dunno if this counts as "Recommendation Thread" material, but this seemed like the better place to pose the question.

I dunno if anyone is still posting on the thread, but out of people that have played the game, would you advise this game to someone that doesn't have an acrade stick controller? I know it uses a six button control scheme, which usually works best with the stick controllers, but i'd still like to give it a try.
