My only problem with microtransactions is when they affect competitive gameplay. No one should be at a disadvantage to someone who has more disposable income. Skill goes out the window and that's when I lose interest.

And it definitely sounds like this is going to be the case with Uncharted 4. I've purchased nearly every Naughty Dog game since the PS1 days and loved them all but I can't support this so I will sit this one out. Speak with your wallet.

This is just as meaningless as when MS said the X1 was trending ahead of the 360. More stupid hype...

@Necro_Fear89 That's because they never planned for the XMB to be accessible from within a game so they probably never had enough RAM to allocate to that task. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake with the PS4. The UI will probably not be as smooth as Xbox's though would be my guess.

I just wish one of these companies had the guts to put out the actual numbers. All these vague hype comments are garbage. Give us some numbers if the consoles are so in demand!

@knucklez84 @lo266 @jrcast84 @nodq24 @gilldominic @DVONvX A camera and a power source are not nearly the same thing. Since when is a power source the same as an accessory. Please don't say they are the same ever again - it's just silly. The point is no other similar device (laptop, phone or other) requires the camera to work.

There hasn't been a legitimate reason given as to why it has to be plugged in. If it's not plugged in, just disable the features that use it. Simple software on/off switch. In fact, if you can turn off the thing in settings like MS says you can, why can't you just unplug it? It's the same thing isn't it? Except, if it's unplugged MS turns your console into a paperweight.

@jrcast84 @nodq24 @gilldominic @lo266 @DVONvX It bothers me that MS hasn't explained why it has to be plugged in. It's as arbitrary as sayin you have to have two controllers on at all times even if there's no second player.

@jrcast84 @DVONvX That's the big thing for me as I said before. Other devices work without their cameras but not the Xbox. And I'm going to have to pay an arm and a leg to get it fixed if it breaks or I can't use my console. That blows.

@DVONvX @Yamakoichi I don't have a problem with the Kinect itself. I do have a problem with the requirement that it always be plugged in to use the Xbox. That troubles me and not for the spying reason (although you have to admit, requiring it does raise suspicions).

The reason I don't like it being required is the failure risk. What happens if the Kinect breaks? I can't use the Xbox without it so I am screwed. That's not true of any other device (laptop, phone, etc.). With estimates saying the Kinect costs as much as the console to make, what will a replacement cost?

@Incubus420 @lo266 I agree with your premise but I still don't think you can definitively say pubs are missing out.

People who are willing to get a used game to save $5 might pass on your game altogether if they didn't, so no guarantee on a cut on that sale either way. Nevermind a few months in when the used game price might be significantly cheaper than a new copy.

There's also no way to account for the possible uptick in new game sales through word of mouth from the someone who buys used. They may have friends who buy new and will buy on your recommendation.

There also has to be an acknowledgement that Gamestop is taking a risk in buying games. They might get stuck with a ton of copies for whatever reason. That's a loss. So unless pubs are willing to share in the losses as well, only looking to get some of the profit seems unfair.

@ALCHEMISTx24x7 I hate Gamestop because they are an all-around rip-off but they do provide a service. They are taking a risk in buying games from customers because those copies may never be sold (although they probably have this down to a science now). I'd be in favor of devs/pubs getting a small % as long as they were willing to take on some of the risk as well somehow. There should be a balance.
