@Gamerhomer that Is true. They can eek better visuals by lowering framerate and resolution... I just wouldn't have thought they would need to. To be honest I can deal with 30fps, but 720p I couldn't, although it will hopefully be 1080p
@Adavanter @lee1823 They both use x86 processors, and DDR ram.. same as PC's....... theres nothing proprietary in them of any note. Even the GPU Is similar to a PC card.
The point of this was to make it a lot easier for developers to create for these systems
I do hope im wrong but with these configurations we shouldn't really suffer from poor quality launch titles as we have done in the past.
It's coming to PC and it's being released on PS4 and XBOX ONE. Whats not next gen about that? I understand that it's also coming out for PS3 and 360. my point is that as they are developing a PC version, which will have all the bells and whistles that we expect from next gen and developing for these new consoles should be a similar process, then why is the bar being set lower than expected?

I don't even buy the whole 'developers have gotta get used to the systems hardware' argument either. Correct me if im wrong, but both systems are x86 based architecture..... They are basically PC's with off the shelf hardware, so where's the development learning curve come in?? I don't see how we're going to see games steadily get more attractive over time as surely developers should be able to hit the mark right now with this kind of hardware as it's not proprietary? I could be wrong but surely it should be just like developing a PC version?
And as for upscaling...... please no! just upscaling a game to 1080p looks terrible if the internal resolution is well below. It doesn't make it all ok, just like upscaling a DVD to 1080p doesn't make it a blu ray.
Just seems as though they are struggling with quality already for systems that should be easy to develop for.

I enjoyed most of the MGS games and have played them all apart from snake eater....... but god damn, the stories are impossible to follow and convoluted to say the least.... I really couldn't tell anyone else what happened in any of them. It just pisses me off how Kojiima works. Is this Phantom Pain? is it Ground Zeroes? Are they two separate games? Learn to tell a story.
Tell you what Kojima..... put a website up with a timer that lasts for a year..... once the time runs out and you have the answer... gimme a call so I can tell you I don't care any more and lost interest a year ago. Game looks like every other MGS. Cutscenes look amazing...... ingame mediocre. Just like MGS4.
I hope this and other games will run at 1080p at a decent frame rate as I've not seen anything 'next gen' so far from the new consoles. Just my opinion, but I couldn't be any less excited.

2-17? how accurate is this gonna be? I don't know many 2 year olds with PS4 on preorder.
When will the industry realise that they are two very different markets and stop comparing them? I have a great smartphone. The novelty of gaming on it wore off about a month after I got it as the controls are awful for anything but puzzle games and every game just feels like a tech demo with no real substance and last 2hrs if that.
crap! I thought this was going to be a dragons dogma sequel. I hate randomly generated dungeons too. Still excited and i'm sure it'll be good..... just not what I was expecting!
