New Gameplay From Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
Hideo Kojima presents more next-gen footage of Metal Gear Solid V from the Tokyo Game Show.
the graphics look fine for next gen (they will probably fix the minor glich on the final build), but they realy need to work better on motion captures and gameplay mecanics, this series need to learn a lot from splinter cell on that.what bothers me more is that most of the places look all based on military camps and bases
I think most who aren't comfortable with the changes didn't get their hands on Peace Walker, in which the "formula" for Metal Gear was altered.
One of the true hallmarks of the MGS series is the ever-evolving gameplay, expanding accordingly as hardware improves. And as such, MGSV is looking to completely ditch the relative linearity that the games are known for.
This is actually a good thing. As a series that has championed the stealth genre, Metal Gear might just show the industry how to do CORRECT stealth in an open-world environment. There are no more barriers, no more separated areas that will diminish the Alert phase, so new gameplay mechanics must be implemented to accompany these changes.
People might say that the "slow-motion" is tacky and not necessary (including myself to some extent) but when I saw the daytime gameplay, I was floored because the Alerts were BASE-WIDE, meaning that in order to escape, Big Boss would have to drive/run for miles and evade the entire military force in pursuit.
I think in that context, people will find this game to be FAR MORE difficult than previously before. I predict there will be much bawling over the difficulty of the missions in this game (once again, including myself). People are going to get spotted left and right and they'll be forced to find approaches that will work for them.
That sounds way better than what has come before. This is why I'm excited for this game. It'll surpass GTAV in the missions department because players will have greater control over the variables.
Hope on higher difficulties we won't be able to see enemies through walls, that makes things way too easy
I'm not against openworld games, but this just isnt MGS to me, it almost feels like it wasn't made by Kojima, this change better be really really good.
wow....looking very impressive. can't wait to see the villains in the game. beauty and the beast bosses from MGS4 were outstanding.
why would Kojima bother make an MGS movie?!
From this footage, the graphics are better than most CGI scenes I've ever seen.
(However I'd vote for Hugh Jackman as Snake's actor)
Lol to the simple minded folks that hate "CHOICE" well don't buy the game.. The new gaming systems PS4 / XBONE.. Allow for developers to add several things.. So get used to open world games and several options to approach a target.. I am a hardcore MGS fan.. And i love what Kojima-San has done.. He is not succumbing to the industry if anything the industry is succumbing to him.. Example looks Splinter Cell: Blacklist and GTA V.. There have new stealth mechanics.. similar to MGS.. So please stop the whining..
No need to be rash friend. I'm sure it is going to be a great game, as always! But the industry may be getting to Kojima, I don't Know. To me, MGS is the kind of title that sets standards, no the other way around. So it makes me a little uneasy to see so many "general" and so called "modern" features being applied here. I mean, the actual execution remains to be seen. But I prefer the realistic stealh mixed with the absolutely not realistic rest of the game. Remember that feature en MGS 3 where snake could take care of his wounds? loved that. I want this little nice and innovative touches. Iam personally not "complaining" per say, I'm just pointing out my concerns, because I love so much those games.
I look at the comments expecting to see love, but y'all are just complaining, why?
1) The game is clearly being played on the easiest difficulty, so stop complaining about the ridiculous amount of times he gets hit (they probably didn't want a repeat of the slip-up during the closed doors conference from a couple weeks ago.)
2) This series' enemies have always had a limited peripheral view, and either way, look at the first part of point 1.
3) The gameplay looks great to me.You can choose to do the classic MGS stealth (with some awesome CQC upgrades) or go the action route. It's about choice.
4) Health regen has featured in both 3+4, look it up.
5) Slow mo, when you get spotted? Most likely removed on higher difficulties, and if you are as good at the game as many of you claim to be, it wouldn't matter.
A lot of you are calling yourselves "Hardcore Fans". Bulls**t. If you were fans, you would support what looks like an excellent addition to the franchise.
This auto healing pioneered by The Getaway is just annoying at this point.... I'd rather have games that go back to you losing your health for one or two shots till you bandage it up or die if you get hit a lot.
Totally agree. Kojima said Legacy Collection isn't planned on 360 because Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 is so complex that a 360 port should use SEVEN discs. If it remained exclusive, PS3 version would surely be a lot better graphically.
How many shots can he take, my god, has Snake turned into Jason Vorhees, nearly immortal? I hope there are many diffciculty settings. But I would like to see the "normal" setting difficult enough...but for money's sake, don't think that's what gonna happen. No problem with the x-ray vision, technology could explain it, and could be good for the gameplay. I don't know... I love that franchise so much, it worries me, but also trust Kojima and his team. Hope he is listening to the fans.
the gamepaly footage trailer taken from suk camera ,,,i want to see hd gameplay trailer to see how much amazing of MGS5 in next gen ^______^
Metal Gear was never an exclusive, used to be on the MSX and the NES. The first MGS was on PS1, but later came in the form of Twin Snakes to Gamecube, which was also MGS2. The original Xbox got MGS2 as well. Xbox 360 also got the MGS HD collection, which is MGS2, MGS3 and Peace Walker HD (The PSP MGS game).
^Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, MGS 2, 3, and Peace Walker are already on Xbox. 1 and 4 are the only ones that aren't.. (along with portable ops of course)
@neroangelo1986 This is metal gear. If you want to play splinter cell go and do it!
glad to see someone gets it :)
@Saint_Kaiser Obviously you didn't played Dishonored
@gonzzan I'm really excited about it, I think it's the best progression for the series. I hope to also see a good amount of the macro elements from Peace Walker.
it's pretty, but the game is looking stupid. The guards are completely blind I guess. It's like the player goes out of their way to get caught, and they still don't. Stealth action lol this looks like a 3rd person shooter. when he does finally get detected he's nearly invincible (even against an AntiAircraft gun)
@Glasscut32 How are GTV's steal mechanics similar to MGS?
And it should be translated for another demo someplace else.
@carlosxande People hate choice and change.. Your are one of them..
@carlosxande i feel you. although, a lot of these gameplay changes will be for the better, imo. the reason why is the newest feature: open world.
if the gameplay was as strict and linear as before, it would be next to impossible to function through this game successfully, being that anything can happen, anywhere, at any time. you gotta have some way of getting out of these situations quickly.
the series has always stuck to its roots, but now that its venturing into new territory, necessary territory, experiments need to be held. with this track record of kojima, i wouldn't worry. any changes that are made are made for the benefit of the player and the gameplay.
iam not with them i already said enogh for my comment ,,, ,suit your self sir and y were right about your comment :)
what you fail to understand is hardcore fans criticize this game because the expect the best out of it.
@fanirama If I know Kojima, which I don't, I would guess that auto-healing doesn't apply to medium or higher difficulties. :D
@fanirama being open-world the game would be hard as hell if this were the case.
@themc_7 Is the difficulty, they are playing it on the easiest difficulty that the game has atm, it was confirm a while ago that they will be showing the game on that difficulty, its lame i know.
maybe that's too harsh. It's still in development, and for the purposes of the demo, he probably is invincible.....and the game does look fun :s
@Glasscut32 @carlosxande Yes, of course. Very profound this comment of yours. You know everything, about everyone. So easy to criticize people and their points of view. Much easier then understand and simply debate. I just said I'm concerned about difficulty issues. I didn't say anything about the open worldness.
@adward22 Um, pardon? I'm a student/writer, so I do prefer to reply to English.
@daviz88 No, I am a hardcore fan. I've played all the games, except Portable Ops and Ac!d, and I do expect the best; except I understand that this series has ALWAYS been the best, and I know Kojima will deliver, as he's never failed us before.
It's called respect, trust, or faith if you're feeling dramatic.
@DevilGearEffect @daviz88 Being a hardcore fan and doling out criticism aren't mutually exclusive events. You can be a fan of something and still offer constructive criticism. Heck, since you've played most of the games, you're in a position to offer the most constructive criticism. If you've got nothing to say about the games, that's okay too.
