I'd shrug and play all these other sweet games. I've yet to see anything impressive about Crysis so I really don't care what happens to it.BounceDK

Are you serious?  Nothing about Crysis so far has impressed you?  Wow, you must be hard to please.  Please tell, what games HAVE impressed you.  Maybe nothing about the gameplay or story has impressed you so far, but you must be blind if the graphics dont impress you.  Cryengine2 looks way better than Unreal 3.0, and the unreal engine looks amazing.

Yeah, coming here asking for help with an attitude like that wont get you very much good advice.  There is no reason to go with a single core processor when you can get a dual core for the same price.  You might as well learn the fact now that expensive, although worthwhile hobby.  Anyway, go read some reviews, look up benchmarks, and while you are waiting, save up some money so you dont blow it on a soon to be obsolete single core CPU.

As far as I know, the 8800GTS 640mb and the 8800GTS 320mb should perform identically at lower resolutions (10x7, 12x10, maybe 16x12) because they have identical core and memory clocks (well, assuming they do, there are overclocked versions out there, plus end user overclocking) When the resolution gets higher than 1600x1200, the texture files become larger than the 320mb can store at once, so you lose some performance as it has to swap out the files from its memory. The 640 mb version has twice the memory so the higher resolutions wont give it as much of a performance hit.

That really does look amazing. The particle and lighting effects were superb. My only complaint would be not enough terrain deformation, like when rockets from the Heli were hitting. This clearly shows how next gen PC graphics excel compared to the consoles nowadays.

[QUOTE="mattman734"]yah its cool i dont really know what i was asking eather i was really just wondering if it was a good one but i went ahead and orderd it. Thanks.Snaptrap

r u sure you got the right socket type?

939 They only make those in one type....

AMD no longer makes the 939 socket or any other except AM2. If your MB is 939, I'd pick up the best CPU you can find while you can. In a X2 4600+, both cores will operate at 2.4Ghz, so basically it will be like to CPU's running at 2.4Ghz. Both cores run at all times. They divide the system workload. Great for gaming. One core handles Windows operations while the other focuses on the game.

You are forgetting about socket F, for the 4x4 Quad FX platform.

[QUOTE="zackattack784"][QUOTE="Axecident"][QUOTE="madxmattx92"]

Is this a good card because I can only get agp? Like will this run Stalker, Fear or, Oblivion.

Axecident
get the 7800gs man its a fast card and you can OC the hell out fo it. I know ppl that got it up to 479/1500 and its cheap $180

if you had pci-e you could get a 7900GT for the same price and that blows away a 7800GS

not by that much man, few more mhz big deal. Same graphics don't matter what speed.

Its not just the speed of the core, its the 8 more pixel pipe lines the 7900GT have over the 7800GS. Not that I'm knocking the 7800 GS as I have one myself, but they really dont compare to the rest of the 7800/7900 series cards. I'd get the 7800GS or a 7600 GT, and use that while you wait to upgrade to a completely new system, like I am.

heheh, thats about what I got with my FX5600 XT. Now its around 3000 with the 7800GS, so around 6000 seems pretty reasonable for the 8600GT. If they do release that card in AGP, I might pick one up, but I doubt it.

My computer is never off until it needs the occasional restart for a software upgrade or something. I dont think I'll be adding anymore hardware to it for a while (once i build my next rig, i'll probably get a TV tuner and a 750 GB HD and turn it into a media rig) but until then, it seems to have run just fine for the last 4 years. Interesting fact, I've NEVER reformatted this computer. It probably needs one bad, but my all progams list goes over 4 pages lol. Would be a pain in the butt to reinstall everything.

[QUOTE="kato_"][QUOTE="Axecident"][QUOTE="kato_"][QUOTE="Axecident"][QUOTE="kato_"][QUOTE="Axecident"]Well the mobo am gettings say Conroe ready in big letters, so my thoughts are it will maybe work better on my mobo.
Now the reason I listed e4300 cuv everyone say its the best OC cuv it works with low cheap ram and has higher MP.
The ram I will be using is pc3200 so I think thats consider low.Note I don't think am going to OC very high.
So which cpu is a better choice for me?
Axecident

E4300 regardless of what you want to do. The E4300 has a higher multiplier which means you wont have to buy an expensive ram. The E6300 only has a multiplier of 7 which means u'll need a more expensive ram.

Reaching 3.20GHz using either the E4300 or E6300 was quite easy and I believe most of these Core 2 Duo processors will at least reach this frequency. That said, we were able to push our E6300 to 3.50GHz and the E4300 to 3.47GHz. While both processors achieved similar frequencies they used very different settings to achieve them, nevertheless real-world performance was much the same. The advantages of the E4300 other than being slightly cheaper, is that the FSB (front side bus) does not need to be nearly as high to achieve the overclock. The advantage of this is that the DDR2 memory frequency can be lowered below 800MHz whereas the E6300 is forced to run DDR2-1000 memory. - Techspot

E4300 DDR2-800MHZ - cheap
E6300 DDR2-1000MHZ - really expensive

And Should i buy the zalma hsf or just stay with the stock cooler?

you'll definitely need to buy an aftermarket cooling if ur going to overclock the processor. I am not exactly sure how far you can pull off with stock cooling but i suggest you buy an aftermarket one. A good one would be around $30 but i am not exactly sure what brand. My friend is helping me overclock mine because i dont know know how to overclock CPUs. The E4300 is great espicially clocked @ 3.47GHZ. Just look at how much better it does than the E6700. So if u get the E4300 and overclock it to 3.47GHZ you'll bisically have an E6800 Allendale or something lol

yea but look at my mobo which is better for it?

Asus P5N-E Sli 650i = perfect for the E4300 and loves it espcially when clocked at 3.47GHZ or the Asus 680i Sli = good with the processor but i suggest getting this motherboard only if ur getting an E6600 or higher processor.

no dude am sticking with agp mobos for now for price reason.

You wont find a AGP mobo out there with support for a core 2 duo. Face it, if you are planning on getting a Conroe or Allendale chip, a new motherboard and new ram are in your future, unless maybe one of those weird ASRock motherboards has support for DDR and C2D

-EDIT- Lol speak of devil, I decided to research mobos some more and it IS a weird ASRock board that can do all that.  Those hybrid boards are nuts.  I doubt you will be able to overclock very high with them, but I guess it is kinda nice to be able to save so many old components.
