Probably less you "tricking" them, and more good customer service, aka "the customer is always right." You're not as devious as you seem to think you are.ItsEvolution

I have a friend who owns and indie shop and he is adamant that in his vast experience the customer is almost never correct. People almost constantly try to shaft him by bringing in games that "didn't work" when they worked perfectly well. This type of behaviour only cements the idea that customers are misinformed/complete lying ****ers!!!

Even though gamestop is run by a bunch of money hungry, lazy bar stewards that doesn't mean that you should take advantage of them. It's immoral and quite an insult to those of us who take good care of our PSPs!!

I've only owned my PSP Slim for two weeks but the games i've bought so far have all been excellent.

1. WipEout Pure (Best racer on the PSP......probably. Played my friends copy of burnout and that's great aswell)

2. Gradius Collection (So much on offer, the old school aesthetics and music are fan-f'in-tastic!!!)

3. Y's: Ark of Napishtim (Despite some annoying enemies and bland graphics the game oozes charm. The artwork, music and characters make this game a joy to play)

4. Gitaroo Man Lives (Short but sweet)

5. Locoroco (Is growing on me despite initially finding it vomitingly cute)

6. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (The camera can **** off)

I'm hoping to get Tales of Eternia/ The Worlds, Breath of Fire III, Brave Story, Harvey Birdman, FF Tactics and Worms OW 2 over the next few months aswell. It's a great time to be a PSP owner as to be honest almost every game i've seen in all of these lists look tempting!

Some of these responses are hilarious. Integrity, you cant be serious. Have you SEEN the amount of shovelware **** that has been released on the Wii. Half the shelf at GAME and other stores are full of cheap tacky garbage that Nintendo have given the go ahead to allow on their system (ofcourse they dont produce it themselves, except for the odd mario party game ;) ). If they new anything about integrity they wouldn't allow these games to be given away. Frankly the arguement that because they were on a Nintendo console this somehow makes goldeneye being redeveloped for the 360 a show of weekness is crap. Goldeneye is a fantastic game as are all Rare games. It's similar to locking a beautiful bird up in your house because you dont want it to fly into the garden of someone you dislike and let them appreciate it. The word to describe this behaviour is "spiteful".

No. I expect if it were, codejunkies would probably be closed down and under criminal prosecution.

There were technical limitations that made region locking the orginal gameboy impractical. This is why Nintendo handhelds started off region free. It would be awkward to make the sucessive systems region locked after this. Plus there's the economic benefit of owners traveling abroad with their handhelds being able to purchase games wherever they went.
ThePlothole

Hmm, that arguement seems a little odd.

Perhaps it has more to do with console games costing more and therefore the losses of importing to retail being greater?

I know that didnt answer your question... I didnt answer your question because I dont know the answer and part of the reason I didnt know the answer is because of part two you added...

Jaysonguy is pretty set on the belief that it helps protect each region's retailers (if we could have imported SSBB from japan then there would have been tons of fans that would have done that and that is just that many less people who would have purchased it from American retailers)... if thats the answer or not I dont know but it very well could be.

also congrats on your 2000th post.

Cheers, i'd been stuck at 1994 for many months until i was spurred to make a post on this issue. It's a confusing subject. I buy almost all my DS games from play-asia (living in the UK) because NOE are so very slow in releasing them over here. We haven't even got PW: trials and tribulations for the DS but PW4 has already been released in America. If they really wanted to stop people buying import enablers they would try to do world wide releases instead of staggering them. I find it an insult that i have to wait up to 6 months to get a uk release of a game that has only had several other languages included. I understand that it was initially stated that they couldn't make enough copies any sooner because they're machines were working at full capacity and it would be a waste of money to buy more machines. Exscuses after exscuses.

That's probably correct, and if it weren't for the DS being region free i would fully agree. Obviously NOE won't make any money, which is against their interests. However, if they can put the effort in to patching it, its time and effort they should be putting into releasing games within a good timeframe of the American and Japanese release.

[QUOTE="colonel_beeb"]

I wonder why Nintendo are even bothered by it.

ag1052

the answer to that is the same as whatever the reason that they made it region locked in the first place.

Firstly that isn't really answering my question. Secondly, if importing bothers them then why the hell did they make the DS region free?
