This could be cool. Obviously Rare wouldn't let them make a Conker game but given a company name like Gory Details, I'm sure it will be a crass and raunchy game.

This was such a jerk move. They made an amazing and criminally underrated game but ultimately the plan was to borrow an insane amount of money to turn this new IP into a MMORPG, just assuming that the new game will be a mega hit that does COD numbers times a million so they can make a MMORPG that would somehow do WoW numbers magically. Instead people didn't give the new IP a chance and they wound up in mega debt to the surprise of no one.

What they need is a good quality Star Wars game and it will only go uphill from there. Don't make more weak cash in games that insult the intelligence of gamers. SW 1313 and Battlefront 3 sounded amazing but Lucas Arts had no idea what they were doing and sabotaged those projects to make way for SW Kinect. Just put out some high quality games, the businessmen will turn a great profit and most gamers will be happy. It's a win win.

This can't end well. I get that it's made with the best of intentions but obviously a lot of people are just going to get pissed and treat the project like a direct insult them. The facts are that people on the internet can say what they want without it coming back to them in the real world so a lot of people abuse that and act like horrible man-children.

It makes sense, they gotta compete with what Mortal Kombat has been doing in the last few years. If anything they probably should have their comic book studio Udon write the story since these guys somehow made sense of the SF canon in their comics.

It's painfully obvious that constant DRM isn't a good strategy. It doesn't keep people from pirating the game, it's always a matter of time before somebody makes a crack for the game. Even Diablo 3 has a work around in the way of emulated servers. I've never tried it but DRM is only punishing the people who pay for these games.

That is annoying, but the upside of microtransactions is that so far it is 100% optional, like if you want to get better materials in Dead Space 3 but don't feel like gathering/crafting then you can spend a couple bucks to get it fast. In other cases it could be like what THQ had for the WWE games, you could pay a couple bucks (or get the season pass) and unlock every character from the start. Yes, in previous gens you could use a cheat code to do that but that's besides the point.

Until some publisher makes their code monkeys put in pay to win microtransactions, it's not time to grab the pitchforks and torches. It's for the people who don't mind dropping a couple extra bucks to get stuff immediately or different ways to customize your character. Nobody is saying "You just spend $60, ok cheapo now you better cough up $20 or more in a series of microtransactions if you want to see more than 2 hours of gameplay or play online." When that does happen, we can expect a lot of backlash but for now it's just something we can turn a blind eye to because most of us would rather unlock stuff in our game time rather than get it all instantly. It's not too different from DLC or other options like Nintendo having some games that play a level for you, you aren't forced to do it, it's just an option for the people who would want it.

This isn't really news. It's just one retail chain in Austria that is taking preorders for an estimated price that they made up just so they can take preorders.
