Conker series developer working on new Wii U game

Former Rare developer to create new game under his studio Gory Details.

Former Rare project lead for Conker's Bad Fur Day, Chris Seavor, has updated his Twitter feed stating that he's working on a Wii U game under his independent studio Gory Details.

Seavor posted the following (via NeoGAF): "…..WiiU devkits ain't cheap and it's lookin likely @GoryDetail is gonna need 3 at some point this year ;) (that's top secret btw) heh!". A few hours after that, he posted again that he would be releasing gameplay footage in the next few weeks.

Seavor founded Gory Details in 2012 and developed three mobile games to date, with the most recent one being Parashoot Stan that released mid-December last year.

It's cool, but I don't think Parashoot Stan was supposed to be that great :/ Maybe they'll be better at making a console game? Hoping they'll make an awesome platformer!

Was a pretty amazing game

I'm still waiting on Nintendo to just plain buy Rare's IPs from Microsoft, but until that day, this is the next best thing.

Wii U really needs more M rated games to be more appealing to young and middle aged adults who are playing games on Xbox 360 and PS3.  More diversity of games is always a good thing.

However, Nintendo doesn't do M rated games, so it's up to third-party developers to provide the Wii U with a library of M rated games.  I think third-party developers are mostly ignoring the Wii U because they don't think it's right to have their M rated games associated with a console they think is "too kiddie".  Not to mention, they might also want to keep their M rated games away from young children and that means not putting them on Wii U

This could be cool. Obviously Rare wouldn't let them make a Conker game but given a company name like Gory Details, I'm sure it will be a crass and raunchy game.

I wont get over excited until I see something. But Im very curious what it is. Hopefully something as crude as Conker.

There's virtually NO chance it'll be a Conker game. I'm almost certain that IP is in the hands of Microsoft.

This is... great news! Lets hope this is WiiU exclusive and leads to a good relationship with Gory Details.

Hopefully it's something in the vein of classic Rare, since Rare themselves are as far from classic Rare as it gets.

It would be awesome if it was a true sequel to Conker's Bad Fur Day, but I won't hold my breath. If you'd like a Conker's sequel, "Like" my comment.

Let's see what happens hopefully the game will be rated M. One of the things WiiU needs is diversity and all the games coming out aren't targeted for adult audiences it needs more blood.

I hope it's actually something notable..... would be crazy if it was actually a Conker game which I highly doubt

More games for WiiU is always a good thing, and I would love another Conker-esque title.

Those poor devs... well, at least it's not for the xbone.

Yes! A previous Rare Ware developer is going to work on a new game. Since he is from Rare, the game will be great when it comes out.

@LusterSoldierGS

I'm pretty sure those are not the reasons third-party developers are avoiding Wii U at the moment.

@ZaphodTheFourth We all know Microsoft owns those classic Rare franchises, but it's cool that the makers of a classic Rare game will be making something on Wii U. Maybe the Banjo "spiritual successor" will also be released on Wii U.

@Kid_Black_Star Yes because blood = good game right? Lets just hope it's a great addition that doesn't tarnish his reputation as an original and creative mind.
