The few demos that I play generally convince me NOT to buy a game. But Strangehold won me over instantly, when I realised it was basically a HD version of Max Payne I ordered it on the spot.

I like the idea that someone mentioned earlier, FPS games having the post Doom era and the post Half Life era. They do mark massive waypoints in FPS gaming.

Don't know about Pink Floyd, but I think Led Zeppelin simply weren't interested in the games for some reason. It would certainly be a massive coup for one of the Music game makers to get Zeppelin music on board.

The visuals in Fallout 3 can be bleak and dull, but they fit the tone of the game perfectly. It's not meant to be nice, and I think Bethesda did learn from Oblivion in terms of the world. Oblivion was high fantasy, you were situated in an empire at its peak. Fallout sticks you in **** literally.:D There are quite a few atmospheric moments. The combat is better for me, the VATS is done in a way where it's not just an annoying nod to old game methods, it is quite useful, useful enough not to annoy. Combat in first person is always sweet, and a futuristic setting means much better weaponry. It's not quite up to the level of actual FPS games, but the FPS combat is good to me. The story is good, the settings and quests so far are quite good. I've basically put Fable 2 off until I've done with this, so no major complaints from me.

A hell of a lot. :D 2 consoles, a Pro and an Elite. An extra controller, tons of MS points, 2 yearly subscriptions to Live so far. TONS of games, looking over prices...

Gears was bundled with my first console. Tomb Raider Legend was pre-owned at £25 because I couldn't find a new copy. GTA4, Both Rainbow Six Vegas games, Mass Effect, Saints Row, Crackdown, Lost Planet, Halo 3, Turok, Fight Night 3, Lost Odyssey, Pro Ev 2008, and lots more were bought at full price. Saints Row 2 was £35, Lost Planet Colonies was £20, Prey was £10, PDZ was £15, and a few more were bought for less than full price. Either way, I'm still talking many hundreds of pounds on retail games.

Why is it assumed that the regenerating health change was for realism? Neither system is "realistic", but regenerating health goes flows better. Hording powerups in online shooters sucks balls, and anything that lessens that is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. And frankly, healing after a fluke shot or grenade hit and getting into the battle makes for a better gaming experience than a fluke explosion lowering your health down to like 5 points and you basically can't do anything. Making the experience better for more people is what it's all about. Plus, generally, it balances out with regen-health games leading to quicker kills than chipping away at a health bar. Doesn't make the games "easier" or "harder", Rainbow Six Vegas has this style of health, and you can still die in one shot often.

Are people counting multiplayer as "replayability"? Obviously any time I play Halo 3 online I'm "replaying" it. But to me the phrase means doing the same thing over, i.e going through the single player again. I practically NEVER "replay" a game in that sense, don't see the point. I've done the story, completed the narrative, and that's why I bought it. At that point, the game should have already justified its own purchase. Being asked to unlock content, or collect X amount of Y objects just pisses me off, I don't like the crap that Devs hit us with in an attempt to create replayability. Some games are enjoyable enough to do some parts of the SP again, like the T-Hunts on Rainbow Six Vegas. But overall, no replay value means nothing to me.

I don't sell the games because a) I'm not cheap and b) I REALLY don't like the used games market.

My sister got motion sickness playing Marathon. I've never had it playing any kind of game. I do get headaches after 15 minutes of Gears though for some reason. :lol:
