This really isn't as big of a deal as it would have been. Still dumb, but I believe with all the reversals you no longer HAVE to install every single game you buy (disc-based or digital) to the HDD to play it. When they were originally mandated users had to do that for every Xbone game, an external was not only important, but REQUIRED. With next-gen sizes, I could see game installs hitting 10GB rather easily. That'd be less than 50 games before you can't play any new games. Not to mention saves, demos, DLC, and (since MS wants it to be an all-around entertainment system so badly) lots of movies and music as well. So really, a 500GB HDD isn't even big enough of one in that situation.

But, since that isn't mandated anymore (to my knowledge) anyone that buys disc-based isn't really going to have much of an issue. Especially before they eventually get the externals working. People that want to go almost entirely digital could potentially have a bit of a problem, though.

The only REAL issue with no external at launch, and an irreplaceable internal... if the internal dies for some reason before the external support happens, you might be screwed, at least until the support comes. Cause you're gonna need some sort of HDD.

@bunchanumbers @vegasdan30 The PS4 supports external HDDs, just not for reading for games. Its the same as how the PS3 works now. You can retrieve data off an external HDD and put it on the internal via USB connection, you just can't directly read the infromation straight off the external (no playing a downladed game from the external, no using saves for your game that are sitting stored on the external).

@themc_7 @demondogx that's really the thing though. They claimed to have made it, but didn't. They just farmed out development of it to some no-name developers so they could spend all their time elsewhere.
Its not that they're bad devs, but they're liars and scam artists.

Very cool article Kevin. Nice pics and sounds like a really cool con. Too bad its so far away, but still awesome.

Sounds like one of the few true gaming conventions I've heard as opposed to all the gaming shows like E3, gamescon, and PAX I've ever heard of as well.

@WereCatf @Warful @Foolsgold89 These aren't just developers though. these are the people that made the freaking system and work on nothing but coding the firmware. If those people still screw the pooch countless times, just cause they'll be working with a more stable system with the PS4 won't change the fact that they're inept at their job.

**** them, it **** well better be on the PS3. There's no technical reason for it not to be and that the gen was completely skipped over on GG so far is ridiculous.
