Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition confirmed

New version of 2012 shooter launching October 8 for $60 with all Season Pass content and more.

by

After leaking earlier this week, 2K and Gearbox Software today announced the Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition. It will be available on "all platforms" in North America on October 8 and internationally on October 11 for $60.

The Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition includes all four expansions within the Borderlands 2 Season Pass, as well as the Creature Slaughter Dome, all Premiere Club content, the Psycho character class, collector's edition heads and skins, and the Ultimate Vault Hunters Upgrade Pack 1.

Borderlands 2 originally released in September 2012. It has since shipped over 7 million copies and is on pace to become the highest-selling title in the history of 2K.

Gearbox Software will discuss the Borderlands series, as well as its other upcoming games, during a PAX Prime panel on Monday, September 2. GameSpot will be in attendance.

Why do so many people hate on BL2 when it's a great game?

Damn, what about their fifth DLC?

Couldn't you have announced this before I bought the core game in the summer sale?

If they're not including all the dlc then no sale. Plenty of other games to keep me busy.

All platforms? Wii U? If so, I fucking knew it - Once GOTY Edition comes then it arrives on that platform.

Take that impulsive shopping!!!. I was about to buy the game on release for $65 dollars, but my waiting is returning me the investment. LIKE IT

Releasing a GOTY edition of Borderlands 2 without all the DLC is almost as silly as releasing a Mass Effect trilogy bundle that doesn't include all the DLC, even for games released in 2007 and 2010.

I picked up this game in june for about £10 and loved the story. Looking forward to getting started with the dlc

For 60$ an old game that doesn't even have all the DLC? Hahahaha, ah good one.

Call me crazy but shouldn't a game of the year edition come with all the DLC?

Gearbox has announced that they are working on 2 more downloadable episodes, that will not be included in the GOTY edition

I knew I should have waited to buy this game. Bummer.

I would wait to release the GOTY edition when all the content can be included in the bundle. Otherwise what's the point to releasing this prior to the upcoming dlc packs which will be 2-3 DLC. I'll pass on this unless it includes all this and it drops to $20 like the first games GOTY edition. However, it's still worth it the price tag, but a GOTY title should include ALL content

For all these story type games, it has become the obvious pattern that a year or so after release they given you almost everything to date but bundled and cheaper. Its so obvious that nobody should buy at release and just wait. How long before the mass public realizes this????

And here we have the prime example as to why I do not buy games the first year or so they are out anymore. I'd much rather wait and save 40+ dollars or more. DLC prices is crippling my interest in buying games anymore, so I wait and save.

"all platforms" so we can take it as the Vita will be GOTY?

It's a shame that I had to wait almost a year to buy a game that I've wanted since launch. the reason I didn't buy it was because of the announced of a season dlc pass along side the game. This is exactly what I've been waiting for but honestly I have no desire to play it anymore.

Just what I've been waiting for.  Thank you.

The original Borderlands required expansions to be installed on a hard drive.  Tried setting up a 32GB flash drive to install it on and it doesn't work.  They need to fix that with this version.

Bit silly, they could've just waited until all content was released so that they could release and actual complete version of the game, because unless I'm mistaken, more content is on its way this autumn.

Next Year,

Game of year GOLD edition???

brain20035
brain20035

so if they decide to release another GOTY next year to include other DLC as well, what would they call that? Game of "This" Year edition??

there are more DLC's outside of the season pass, what about those?

I hope that in Borderlands 3, you have your own star ship like in Ratchet and Clank 3 with all the diffrent chracters on board and that you travel to diffrent borderworlds looking for loot. It would also be cool if they created new playable characters, but the characters from two (Axton, Maya, Salvador, Zero, Gaige, Kreig) are story/quest giving characters along with the original crew like they were in this game.

Fuck Gearbox
They shouldent be forgiven for the absolute scam that Aliens CM was.

Now the only thing left to wait for is a Steam sale.

-EDIT-  I imagine they'll see an unexpectedly large bump when that time comes along.

themc_7
themc_7

@spartanx169x it's just so long to wait! When a new and exciting game comes out that you've been waiting a long time for, it's really tough to say, "I'm gonna wait another year for the GOTY edition", plus a game like this you wanna play with your friends and it's tough to convince everyone else to wait

GanjjaTastiic

@spartanx169x i know right. but hey, let em be idiots and be smart. i always wait for the game of the year games. ALWAYS.

@brain20035 Perhaps "Complete Edition - everything included this time, yeah, really".

@demondogx that's the industry man. All you really going to hate a developer because they made one bad game, even tho they made many other good ones?

PixelAddict

@demondogx Dude, I've had some good times with Aliens CM.  I bought it used on the cheap, and I don't regret it.

I would have been irritated at $60, but at $20, I can deal.

Plus, who cares, we're talking about Borderlands!  I've laughed more at Gaige and Tiny Tina's dialogue than any other game in recent memory.

The-Neon-Seal

@demondogx They havn't, but this came out first [Gaige's voice] AND. IT'S. AMAZING!!! [/Gaige's voice].

@naryanrobinson $7.50 like BL1 GOTY edition.

Scynt
Scynt

@themc_7 @demondogx that's really the thing though. They claimed to have made it, but didn't. They just farmed out development of it to some no-name developers so they could spend all their time elsewhere.
Its not that they're bad devs, but they're liars and scam artists.

Hurvl

@BestJinjo I got Dragon Age: Origins Goty for 7,5 euro on a Steam sale. So much content!

@pound-u @SuprSaiyanRockr @GanjjaTastiic @spartanx169x I don't understand people who hate DLCs. The game ships, and it's awesome, later on the dev says we are making more content so you can keep playing the game, and hey it'll be like 20 bucks! and then people like you bitch about it. if you don't want the dlc...don't buy the dlc. stfu

SuprSaiyanRockr
SuprSaiyanRockr

@pound-u

I don't see anything wrong with more dlc, unless it's a case of releasing codes to unlock 'locked' content, or microtransactions.
If the dlc is good, it adds replayability and content to a title I like.
Though, I do agree that some titles do get too much content, but that's just part and parcel with this industry.
