Wow, first of all thanks for the responses guys, there have been some good suggestions. From what I can gather, I think I might have gone with Distant Worlds, but if I need all the expansions to it as well, which seems to be the case, I can't justify the overall price tag of it. From some of the others that have been mentioned, I have played Sins of Solar Empire (haven't got a clue where it is now though), MOO2 as mentioned and Space Empires. GalCiv2 as well If I recall right. Tezcatlipoca666, I heard that Sword of the Stars 2 had quite a lot of problems, is that true (still)? I have to say I do like Paradox games in general though. Could someone say do they feel that modding/mods give some of the games mentioned any distinctive extras? I read that Endless Space has some mods (and would imagine SotS2 would have too seeing as it is a Paradox one), but other than that can't say much about them.

Thanks for that. It's really hard to tell from all the ones available, which one would be the best, even after watching quite a few let's plays. I might just check out Endless Space, because it is relatively cheap, compared to, for example, Stardrive, and ES doesn't look too bad anyway. By the way, I read about Legends of Pegasus being a bit crappy, is that true or not?

Hi all! I've been looking for a 4x Space game and would like some opinions which one to get. I've had a good look on quite a few, both reading- and gameplay video-wise, but I haven't been able to decide yet. Some that I have been thinking about are; Endless Space Distant Worlds (although this one seems to be a bit elusive) Stardrive MOO2 is one of all time favorite games, and while I'm not looking for an updated version of it (I know MOO3 exists by the way and it wasn't that good), maybe that could be some sort of reference point on which one to possible get? Any recommendations would be appreciated, not just on those ones I mentioned, but in general as well.

I have had Windows 8 for quite some time and haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. Haven't had one game not working, no crashes, nothing. Working as solid as anything. Yes, it's different to what Windows OS has been, but come on, you can still use it just like the previous ones (desktop is just one click/tap away). I haven't even bothered to get the start menu back, even though I know it could be done so easily. Would I go back to previous ones, no.

They are two completely different games like has been said. Whether you would like AoE is hard to say. Personally I have always liked AoE more than Stronghold games, SH isn't bad either, but they are different.

Yeah, I saw this too. TL2 is on offer on Steam as well. You can get it for £7.49 at the moment. Should make it interesting, modders usually add years and years to lifepans of games.

Thanks for the quick reply. CK2 does look interesting and I have noticed that it might take a while to learn, but I don't mind that at all to be honest. Refreshing these days to actually have a game that has some depth to it. Have you played any of their other, similar-type of games? How does it compare if you have? I gathered that about CiM, but I was just wondering, with the new one coming out just about now, that it does have some features that make it city-building(ish). I don't know really, I have recently realised how bloody diffifult it is to actually find a decent city-building game. SimCity, even if you don't see the online-always bad, has a huge amount of problems (traffic, small maps etc.), Cities XL seems to have issues with memory leaks and poor performance, Sim City 4, albeit probably being better than either of those, is old and I would rather buy more recent one than that, Anno 2070 I have read about quite a bit as well, and have mixed feelings about. Decisions, decisions...

Hi everyone, Does anyone here play their games? Like, let's say Crusader Kings 2, Cities in Motion (I know CiM2 will be released sometime today actually) etc. Reason why I mention CiM is that I have resisted of getting SimCity and to me it looks like something that could potentially fill in the Simcity void :D Just to name a a few; I have at least one point or another played the Europa Universalis and Hearts of Iron series, had HoI3 at least (not a clue where it is now though). So I have a rough idea what their games are generally like. My question is this; do you have any suggestions what games from them to get at the moment? I've been looking into CK2 quite a bit, but I can't really say just from gameplay videos, would it be ok or in comparison to other Paradox games, better than some others. I also know EU4 is coming out later this year, but like I mentioned in one of my previous postings, I have enough games that I'm already waiting (to be released) and none at the moment that I would like to get as such or undecided on some, shall I say. So any advice or suggestions on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

[QUOTE="SKaREO"]They were trying to prevent people from stealing their games. Their DRM scheme was so shoddy, they had to give away free games to avoid a class action lawsuit and the loss of all their customers. Looks to me like the pirates won this batle without even lifting a finger. EA literally shot themselves in the foot, again.Emraldo
