[QUOTE="Pearl_of_Egypt"]like I said before, I don't care what the situation was back then it doesn't justify these verses. the problem is that these verses are still in use today and address Muslims as a whole and can be used by extremists to justify their actions. FatalFist
Wat do u mean by that? ofcourse the time mattered, when a person reads the Quran it mentions the history behind it!
Ok wat if I say there is this verse that says
'kill anyone, whether he is Muslim, jew,Christian or pagan if that person commits murder'
NOw you could cut of the last part, and it becomes kill everyone whether he his jew or Christian, the verse always have a context and if u cut them off its pretty hard to judge!
This one was made-up and Its aim was to show u that the context matters,
see your example itself explains what I mean. yes the context has to be looked into, but, it is not really mentioned in those verses I posted, which is why they are used to by extremists to justify themselves. perhaps if it was written that Muslims should just behave that way for the duration of the war it wouldn't be so important, but it isn't (correct me if I am wrong here). so these lines seem to address Muslims as whole, not just the ones fighting the war.
