[QUOTE="Pearl_of_Egypt"][QUOTE="FatalFist"][QUOTE="Pearl_of_Egypt"][QUOTE="sSubZerOo"][QUOTE="Pearl_of_Egypt"] Islam is not peaceful. It is contradicting and you will find lots of violent passages against "unbelievers"
Examples:
9:5 Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush. But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then leave their way free. Lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
9:73O Prophet! Strive against the disbelievers and the hypocrites! Be harsh with them. Their ultimate abode is hell, a hapless journey's end.
9:123O ye who believe! Fight those of the disbelievers who are near to you, and let them find harshness in you, and know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).

Christianity is just about the same way though.. We can't cherry pick likethis when we look at all rational points.. Realize that the middle east is mainly controled by extremists, or dicators in third world countries.. The last time we had anything remotely close like that was during the dark ages with christianity for the west.. When that happened, oh I don't know I think the Spanish inquistion alone burned tens of thousands of people at the stake for suspected witch craft. In the end every major religion can be very brutal.
true, Christianity has had some past mistakes and at times still does, as it is with most religions, however, that is the fault of the people, not the religion itself. these quotes are from the Quran itself, telling people to act this way. that is why you have all these extremists, their own religion practically justifies their actions in their eyes. the Spanish Inquistion was terrible, but it's not like the Bible clearly says to go off and kill anyone who doesn't believe.
and I was raised by a Christian mother and a Muslim father so I know both religions.
I suppose that gave u an insight but out of curiosities sake...which religon do u follow probably Christianity becuz naturally children are closer to mothers
I always find it hilarious that when Muslims find out I'm Christian, they *always* assume it's because of some reason or other or I wasn't taught it. I grew up with both religions, praying a Muslim prayer at night along with a Christian one not knowing what either meant. I learned from both parents. I chose Christianity because I preferred it, simple as that.
How did you grow up a Muslim, yet don't even know what the Chapters you are quoting from are about? :|
1st: I didn't grow up a Muslim. I grew up with both, not knowing the difference and my parents never seemed to pressure me. that is until I chose Christianity and my dad got pissed.
2nd: I did know the context. like I explained the problem is how the verses are used.
