That receiver only supports HDMI pass-through. You will have to connect your Blu-ray player to the receiver with an optical cable.

They are the same thing. LED's are used as the light source for the LCD, as opposed the the traditional CCFL backlighting. They are either edge lit, or back lit. The back lit models offer local dimming of the LED's, which is the more desireable of the two options.

They aren't wrong. You didn't connect it to your computer, you connected it to your monitor.

No, the older playstations cannot bitstream lossless audio. The hdmi chip in them was not capable of it. Only the new slim models are capable of that. The bitstream option you see in the menu applies to Dolby Digital and DTS, not Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio.

Well I don't know what your talking about, but my 80GB PS3 and my Pioneer reciever both say that its DTS HD Master.

And if you do google search on the PS3 2.30 firmware, you will notice, that it added compatibility for DTS HD Master.

http://gizmodo.com/378180/playstation-3-firmware-update-230-brings-dts+hd-master-audio

Self admittedly, you don't know what your're talking about, yet you insist on commenting anyway. That's really helpful to everyone here looking for assitance. This is not some big secret. Any reviewer worth his or her salt made note of this shortcoming in the orginal design, and any worthwhile review of the slim model also mentions this difference between the two designs. The article you linked to states what I already said, in bold print no less. From the April 2008 Gizmodo post:

Today, SCEA announced that the latest PS3 update, 2.30, would bring the ability to decode DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio tracks, that is to say, Blu-ray audio at variable bit rates up to 24.5Mbps, and 7.1 streaming of 96K/24-bit tracks. Does this make PS3 the best Blu-ray player ever? If you've got a receiver that can take an uncompressed audio stream of that magnitude via HDMI, then we think it does. UPDATE: To be clear, this decodes the DTS formats—plus Dolby's formats, including Dolby TrueHD—and outputs all channels via HDMI to a receiver that can take a 5.1 or 7.1 PCM stream. It won't do 5.1 or 7.1 analog output. Also, as some of you have noted, it does NOT bitstream the DTS or Dolby data to a decoder inside a newer decoder-equipped receiver.

/end

If you have an older model PS3, and a receiver capable of accepting uncompressed audio of the 5.1/7.1 variety over HDMI, then your PS3 should be set to output Linear PCM. If you set it to bitsream you will not get the correct audio output if you select a lossless audio track.

The idea of a black screen sounds weird huh? Apparently they work, and work well. Here is a review of the Black Diamond II.

Not to sound rude or anthing, but you don't sound like either one of you have any business handling that TV. From your follow up posts you sound like you were aware that just the two of you weren't up to the task. According to the product page on Newegg, that tv barely weighs more than 100 lbs when you take the stand off it. Convince your friend that you need some extra help before the two of you damage another tv. You have to be careful when handling a plasma. You cannot twist the display at all or you risk damaging it, and unfortunately, it sounds like that's what might have happened here. Having said that, I agree that the glass should not have cracked so easily if it was handled proplerly.

Why not order it from Amazon.co.uk? Futher down the product page there is a link that lists where it can be delivered in Europe.

[QUOTE="Marka1700"]If it were me I would turn it off if it gave the option to.drummer131
Okay...but what's the point of 120hz if you're turning off the option for it to do its thing? Or is the AutoMotion something else entirely? All I've watched on the TV so far is clips of the second Matrix movie and Advent Children Complete. Both looked just fine on Normal.

120 Hz and Automotion are 2 different things. Your display always operates at 120 Hz. Automotion is frame interpolation software that is supposed to help eliminate motion blur. I prefer to leave it turned off on my LN52A650. Some people like what it does to the image, and others such as myself, feel that it ruins the image by imparting it with a completely unnatural effect. A side effect of it is that it negates the benefit of 24p playback on blu-ray. For me that is reason enough to leave it turned off.
