ya know, i;m not even a developer, but i know what should make up more then 60 percent of the game. THE FUCKING GAMEPLAY. this is the type of shit killing the industry. i want to play "video games" not "interactive cinematic experiences". thats why i still play System Shock. because it is much more of a game then Crysis can claim to be. every developer should understand this simple formula
Gameplay<music<graphics<story
yes, graphics are important, and yes, they can help/hinder certain games. but they should NEVER trump core gameplay. NEVER.
so you mean.. to tell me... that people are honestly voting some neckbeard who created a garbage tier indie game, based around the concept of LEGO, that is still unfinished, and he never will finish, for person of the year?
****. I DON;T WANT TO LIVE ON THIS GOD FORSAKEN PLANET ANYMORE. this poll HAS to be manipulated by Redditards and 9fags.. no self respecting gamer of ANY stripe would honestly vote for Notch, of ALL indie devs, to be the 2nd most influential person.. not in the industry.. BUT ON THE WHOLE. FUCKING. PLANET?
what is his amazing accomplishment? BEING A LAZY DEV WHO LEAVES HIS UNFINISHED GAME TO BE FOREVER PATCHED BY MODDERS? what is he influential for? BEING TOO LAZY TO FINISH A GAME THAT A ENTRY LEVEL COMPUTER TECHNICIAN COULD PROGRAM CODE FOR? what is his contribution to society? FUCKING. NOTHING. this is HORRIBLE. WHY would people do this? WHY.
i can think of 100 people more worthy then Notch to be in Time Magazine! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
... **** it. i;m out. my jimmies are too rustled for this shit...
> I think the really violent video game becomes a kind of simulator to practice on. And it enables the individual to become much more familiar with that depiction of death and blood
to quote one of my favorite video games characters, JC Denton of Deus Ex.... "Do you have a SINGLE fact to back that up?"
also, hidden agenda much? Feinstein is a active member of the NRA. of course she can;t blame gun violence on guns and the fact that a mentally-unstable sociopath can buy one at the drop of a hat with nothing more then a drivers license .. thats just too easy!
>only AAA games >devs won;t take risks with abstract ideas/games or risky subject matter >devs such a Platinum games, Kadokawa studios, Spicy Horse, and many other unique studios with many unique games will be forced to go bankrupt >nothing but COWWADOODY clones and the same old series rehashed until the end of time (Assassin;s Creed #497 anyone?) >no more "middle man" companies such as THQ, only surviving companies are EA and Activision (THE HORROR) >inflating dev costs lead to $90 + price tags >industry continues it;s infamous "hire-and-fire" business model, meaning no new, fresh talent will work for the industry, leading to developer's becoming lazy and rehashing/copying each other (Assassin;s Creed 3 was so original and fresh! everything felt new and invigorating!) >always-online games and consoles >season pass, day one DLC, and anti-consumer DRM measures become the norm >PRESS X TO WIN to appeal to the cellphone market/ casual scum >Microtransactions all day, urry day >stagnating graphics >games that focus more on "story telling" then actual gameplay, "video games" now referred to as "interactive cinematic experinces" (Heavy Rain was such a great "video game"!) >paid reviews on "gaming journalism" sites like Kotaku to boost sales of mediocre games (Bioshock Infinite is a 10/10 game, honest!)
this... this is not the future i envisioned for us.... more and more i find myself resenting being a gamer.
