@adynegru @MateykoSlam @Jedilink109 or that 16 year old who got tossed in the slammer after saying he'd shot someone who kicked his ass in a League of Legends game.
America- Home of the free, the proud, and the brave. HA.
>asks for $400,000 in crowd funding >gets $3.3 MILLION instead >only completes 25% of the game, and it is now slated for a 2015 release >asking for more DOSH through a different funding platform
oh god, my sides are splitting. I need to wipe the tears of laughter from my eyes so I can write this next part...
I feel bad for anyone who donated to this sham of a developer, and this sham of a game. I feel even WORSE for anyone who donates even MORE on top of the original amount. 3.3 MILLION for a point-n-click adventure? And you wonder why Schafer has such a small roster of games under his belt? Sure, they're unique, but I can't blame major publishers for shutting down his ideas when he pulls stunts like this. The same thing happened with Brutal Legend, way over budget and way over deadline. Whether or not Tim designs some of the most unique games with some very original ideas is irrelevant. If he can't see the video game industry for what it is- an industry- which includes deadlines, progress updates, and potential "Breach-of-Contract" fines if the game is not finished on time, then he shouldn't make such bold claims with no substantial evidence to back them up. Is it really that surprising the same thing is happening again? But since this game has been crowdfunded by the fans, he has no form of official oversight, no real deadlines forced on him, no form of quality assurance, and no one to answer to when shit like this hits the fan. And that shouldn't put his fans at ease, it should have them on razors edge. For all the fans know, this game could be released in 2050, with a $100 Million in funding, and be one of the WORST excuses for a game ever released. And yet Tim can just sit back and smile because at that point, the fans can't do **** all about it but sit back and wallow in the fact that they funded this game not once, but twice, if not MORE. Tim Schafer- Not Even Once.
So you're telling me... That John Carpenter, one of the Elder Gods of Horror, and responsible for creating some of the most gristly, gruesome, and ghastly monsters known to movie kind, wants to make a Dead Space movie, a game that has some of the most gristly, gruesome and ghastly monsters already in it?
O-Onii-Chan! m-m-my wallet is moving on it's own! I can;t contain it! My money is leaking out!~< 3 Ara Ara!
what I wouldn't give for a Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Zombie Hunting Boogaloo. the world needs more games like Suda51 makes. fast, frantic, funny, and just plain fucking fun.
>Sony says PS4 will have the strongest launch >PSVita was a titanic flop of a launch >PSP was a titanic flop of a launch >PS3 had a horrible launch >PS Store had a horrid launch >PSP go? HAHAHAHAHAHA dont even get me started.
jeez... Sony sure has a great track record of strong launches!
Just Cause 2 is the perfect example of what video games USED to be, and what I wish they STILL were.
"HEY! there's some crazy bad guy doing some crazy bad stuff! take him and all his crazy soldiers out by any means necessary!"
story is simple, gameplay is unique and intuitive, it gives a deep rich world to explore and play around in, gun combat is responsive, driving around off jumps or surfing on the top of a plane then skydiving off is a blast, and don;t even get me STARTED on how epic the grappling hook is. it does a lot of things right. might not be the "perfect" game but **** me sideways if it isn't fun.
but what does this video game play it's priority on? FUCKING GAMEPLAY. i don;t want to play "interactive cinematic experiences" i want to play VIDEO GAMES. entertaining, challenging, rewarding and fun. its not that difficult. Here! i'll do major developers a favor. follow this handy-dandy guide and you'll do just fine...
Gameplay>Music>Story>Graphics
not that hard, is it?
I believe it was John Carmack (the creator of DOOM) who said it best- "having a storyline in a Video Game is like having a storyline in pornography- it's expected, but it's not needed to have a good time". AAA games are a cancer. I hope more developers will realize this.
>Capcom's 'decline in quality' blamed on 'excessive outsourcing'
how bout you just blame your shitty sales on your shitty games, shitty customer service, shitty amounts of DLC, and shitty choices in rehashing good old games into shitty news ones? oh wait, no, thats too difficult. we'll just say "boohoo, its because we outsourced! really!"
god damn it Crapcom. pull yourselves together. this is embarrassing
