@drnknnmd: Thank you, I'm glad somebody recognizes this. I also find it odd he praises Thor Ragnarok as the only other unique one in the verse when that film felt it was trying to be Guardians-like in a lot of ways (and while it is a good film, I don't think it is as good as Guardians 1 and especially 2 as it didn't let the dark and emotional moments sink in but instead had to immediately have a comedy moment even at the end). Not saying there weren't some unique elements to it, but there have definitely been other Marvel movies that were way different. I also would praise the villain in particular as a lot of what makes Black Panther work so well as a film is the clash of Eric and T'Challa's ideologies and while he goes far too extreme some of what Eric is saying isn't necessarily wrong. The Marvel Cinematic verse has definitely picked up the villain game starting with last year, with Ego, Vulture, Hela, and Killmonger all being great antagonists (and rounded out with really funny supporting villains like Taserface and Klaue). Really puts the pressure on Thanos, I hope they deliver with him.

@gamingdevil800: I would hardly take much stock into what Lucas has to say about any of the films he didn't direct. He's flat out said he considers Empire to be the worst film.

I hate when developers think it's their right to tell other developers what they should be allowed to make or not. Get over yourself already.

If you want to criticize Heavy Rain then criticize for that abysmal voice acting, bad writing, and cop out reveal of the killer. At least Uncharted and most of Telltale's games (plus Until Dawn, how did this not get mentioned?) are generally well-designed games.

"Talking about Heavy Rain specifically, Spector said the story it told is far better than any he could write."

Considering Heavy Rain's story is all over the place (it's a realistic mystery! Except there's this random VR stuff......wait, what?!) and the mystery (AKA the core focus of the story) is resolved in the most contradictory manner possible (not only where we privy to this character's thoughts so we KNEW he wasn't the killer, but he also took certain actions like killing 30 security guards that just made keeping his identity secret even harder) then that doesn't say much for Spector's storytelling skills.

Also, you know, there's the fact that video games have always been designed for us to enjoy the developers' creative skills. We just control it, they made the real magic (AKA the entire game) happen. Why should the story be any different from gameplay design, character design, graphics, music, etc.?

@depman1972 You expected to not die a lot in a horror game? That's just silly. The graphics are better than the PS2/GC era, not saying they're the best of this current gen but they're not that bad. Expecting a game to never frustrate you is ridiculous, you're basically asking for the game to be insanely easy. If stealth isn't your idea of fun, that's not the game's fault, that's like yelling at a puzzle game for having puzzles in it.

@dannydopamine18 Did you stop playing within the first hour? I'm five hours in and have obtained five different weapons (plus the crossbow has different types of bolts). No good horror game would just dump every weapon at your feet immediately.

I just hope the towns/fields/dungeons are more visually interesting than most of the ones in Xillia 1 & 2. They had a few interesting ones (Jude's hometown with the night sky, the beach/waterfall area) but many of them were large, empty plains/fields and generic-looking towns. Not saying every area in Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia/etc. were always mind-blowing but they felt generally more interesting to explore and look at.

@whatsazerg You might want to actually do some research before you open your mouth. The most famous assassination of that period was committed by a woman. But hey, guess I shouldn't criticize you, since the entire development team failed to do any research apparently. Seriously, a simple Google check can find you this info.

@delta5931 The only thing shameful is the failure to even mention Donkey Kong Country TF (is the rest of the Gamestop staff forced to take that ignorant "you guuuyyyyssss, this game is hard!!!" review as law? Seriously, even Nintendo themselves went out of their way to mock reviews like that), but other than that there's nothing wrong with Last of Us: Left Behind winning as it was a great added on experience, not only the winter sequence had some exciting new gameplay twists, but the flashback sequence had some very unique use of gameplay presentation.

@SaintsRowLA Elizabeth first appeared in Bioshock Infinite (the third game in the series), she was not in Bioshock 1 or 2.

I don't think Mark appreciates that Donkey Kong Country is different from recent platformers. Yes, in Rayman Legends speeding through the level would frequently work as the game is designed to have a certain rhythm to it and you'd usually make it out okay, but that's not how a DKC game is meant to be played. Being careful and knowing when to take risks is key to this series. Sure, you could go for that letter or puzzle piece up there, but be ready to possibly face consequences. Yes, you'll die a lot, but that's part of the fun, learning from slip-ups and knowing in advance now how to make it through, and by the time you make it to that last barrel the feeling of victory is at an all-time high. I love Rayman Legends, but this game is not Rayman Legends nor should it try to be.

Also, he's being a bit hypocritical. He's praising Rayman Legends, which is an excellent game but mostly stuck to the same mechanics of Rayman Legends, but criticizes this game for doing the same in comparison to DKC Returns? Dude, pick an argument and stick to it.

Also, the visuals looks great, nice and colorful which is more than can be said about a good deal of current games. And really, no mention of the great music by returning composer David Wise? That's just downright disrespectful in my book.
