As one of our more "enlightened" users has already pointed out, many people also blame guns.

Trust me, as gun owner/collector/shooter AND gamer, I can easily sympathize with what you're saying here.

[sarcasm]Now, my AR15 and copy of GTA are telling me to do bad things. Excuse me.[sarcasm/]

Oh, yeah, right. I don't think should have any problems, but:

Windows XP SP2

1.8 GHz Intel Centrino Duo

2GB RAM

nVIDIA 7600

30GB free space on that hard drive

Oh, and I also downloaded the demo a few months back and didn't have any problems.

Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 is the most realistic WWII game on the market.

A couple of days ago I downloaded SWAT4: Gold from the direct download link on Gamespot. I've done this before with IL2 Sturmovik and have also downloaded a few others off of the net from Steam, or Ubi, or wherever.

But whenever I try to run SWAT4, the game takes like ten minutes to boot up, and then crashes my computer after a few minutes of play! I tryed uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it, but that didn't help anything. WTH is going on and how do I fix it?

Well, since I had Oblivion well before the PS3 was even released, I don't have enough details on RE5 to determine which system I'm going to buy it on, and I'll be getting GTA4 on the 360 when it comes out, my top 5 today are the reason I bought my PS3 at launch:

MGS4 x5 FTW!!!

It's not a fair comparison. They're both great games, but FFXII is linear, and Oblivion is COMPLETELY open-ended. You can put as much time into Oblivion as you want to without even starting the main quest (outside of the tutorial), and there is easily another 200 hours in downloadable content (including Shivering Isles). You can play through with a different character if you're so inclined. FFXII is a great game that you can put a lot of time into, especially if you go and explore the whole world and find EVERYTHING. But it's still a linear experience, not an open-ended experience, so like I said, you can't really compare them in terms of length.

The Resident Evil series can get pretty dark, though it isn't always very emotional, though it definitly can be. The story is still very interesting, despite occasional lack of emotion, and you should probably check it out, though it's probably a moot point, considering you've probably already played at least one or two in the series.

And, though not always very dark, the Zone of the Enders(produced by Hideo Kojima) series is very emotional and carries a very compelling story. The gameplay is a little weak in the first game(which itself is very short), but the second game is longer and carries a much stronger challenge, while maintaining everything that made the first game good.

I had a few other games come to mind, but I forget. Please look into what I have recommended, you have my word that you will not regret it.
