Ok, this might be tough to explain, but I'm looking for a somewhat dark and emotional game that's not very gory or frightining. I'd try to think of an example but I'm not exactly sure what to say, although maybe something along the lines of the feel of FF vs. XII (I know it isn't out yet but it looked cool from the trailer). Any genre is fine and it can also be on the PSP but I'm sure PS2 has more.

Metal Gear Ac!d is somewhat "emotional". All MGS games are. It's not very gory either.

i havnt played shadow of the collosus but the shin megami tensei games are pretty dark. theres SMT:Nocturne, which is dark but not really emotional. then theres SMT:DDS 1&2 which are dark and emotional. also these are all RPGs like the Shadow Hearts games i mentioned earlier.

The Resident Evil series can get pretty dark, though it isn't always very emotional, though it definitly can be. The story is still very interesting, despite occasional lack of emotion, and you should probably check it out, though it's probably a moot point, considering you've probably already played at least one or two in the series.

And, though not always very dark, the Zone of the Enders(produced by Hideo Kojima) series is very emotional and carries a very compelling story. The gameplay is a little weak in the first game(which itself is very short), but the second game is longer and carries a much stronger challenge, while maintaining everything that made the first game good.

I had a few other games come to mind, but I forget. Please look into what I have recommended, you have my word that you will not regret it.

Resident evil is pretty gory, and I don't think it's emotional. It's just a game for you to have fun blowing off zombie's head..Shadow of Colossus is special in it's own way..It tells a story of a young warrior who escapes to a forbidden land in order to bring the girl he loves back to life by killing collossus..The ending is pretty interesting, and the game is overall pretty decent..One thing I don't like though:the frame rate drop is very obvious during the battle with colossus(which is the most critical moment damn it!!)..And by the way,how do you define dark?is it something related to evil or something forbidden?I don't seem to get the point...Is it games that meddle with occult or something?I don't have any game that I can recommend, because I think gory and frightening content is a must in those games..hey,how about trying out games such as silent hill??(pretty mysterious, and dark I suppose, but it's scary) or fatal frame series??(this game made me jump off from my seat!!)...and by the way,how old are you pink floyd??(no offence) just wanna know because these days most gamers prefer those gory contents and you seem to be different...............

Both the Shadow Hearts and Shin Megami Tensei series are pretty dark

Shadow of the Colossus, Valkyrie Profile 2, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night(or any other Castlevania but the 3D ones aren't as good).

Thanks everyone. Chances are I'm going to start with Shadow Hearts but I'll definitely look into your other suggestions. To answer your question I am 15, it's not that I'm against gory games (I loved resident evil 4) but I'm just looking for something different.

Dood, what you need is none other than Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2, or Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner. Also, any of the Shadow Hearts game will do.
