I agree with everything you said, however, it really doesn't help the case when games like Call of Duty 9 or Battlefield 3 sell upwards of 20+ million and 8 million respectively. It's sad, but understandable why execs may believe that everyone wants to play mindless shooters. They understand business beautifully but don't know **** about their own product.
Ken Levine is brilliant. I'm playing BioShock 3: Infinite now and it really puts 99% of shooters to shame.
The GoW games all run into the problem of feeling like "more of the same", but every other GoW game had some sort of "WOW" factor to it. Ascension has very little.
