release version will probs have a way to revert to desktop start menu setup. Just like Win7 still has the 'classic' option in the preferences. This is just MS' way of forcefully showing off its new little tablet interface. Not making a 'revert' option would be suicide for this OS though. Not everyone owns a tablet, not everyone wants a tablet and certainly not everyone wants to use that godawful 'apps' crap with a mouse and keyboard setup. Actually, not even 'probably', but 'will' because accommodating business has always been a big thing for MS so if they want this thing to be at all taken seriously by companies as an industry standard they will have the more familiar setup. Lets just hope its not only on the Enterprise version or whatever. Sometimes i have the feeling like Microsoft split the Windows development team into two after XP. One makes normal/ good OS releases like 7 and the other makes bargain bin trash like Vista and, inevitably (im clairvoyant, i can already see this, haters gonna hate) Windows 8. Just a little something to make a quick buck and fill the void till the next 'serious' OS release.

start a custom game, pick the biggest map, pick "no pirates", only have one opponent at the easiest difficulty. This should let you learn and play at your own pace with probably the first major battle an hour, if not more, after the start of the game. Also, have you tried Galactic Civilizations 2? It's more of a 4X game with less emphasis on warfare and more on things like exploration, research and colonization. Another game, is Space Empires 4, but it is pretty old. However, if you don't mind 2d graphics, its still a great game.

Sins of a Solar Empire is probably your best bet. An amazing game. Definitely fits the description of what you want.

are you playing an archer spec and did you upgrade the 2/2 slow motion thing in the archery tree? It's actually a bug, it happened to me too. I remember i manage to fix it, but i don't remember how. Google it and look around. There should be something about it somewhere.

I don't think Infinity Ward has ever claimed COD to be realistic at any point. It's an arcade type shooter, not designed for realism.

HyperWarlock

Doesn't matter what they said or didn't say, matters what the people playing the game think. So tell this to my buddy, not me.

In terms of shooters, Im just playing Riddick Assult on Dark Athena right now. Its really the first game in the series, Escape from Buthers Bay (2004) remastered and the newer game , Assult on Dark Athena (2008or9) which is kind of like an expansion, put into one package. Anyways, it really does follow an older style of shooters and is a nice mix of shooting and stealth. I would also reccomend playing the first FEAR game. one of my favourite shooters plus a nice mix of horror. FEAR2 is ok. FEAR3 is not good at all. They just turned it into some sort of zombie shooter because having zombies in your game was the 'cool' thing to do when the game was made. If iyou want zombies, play Left 4 Dead or Left 4 Dead 2.

Why I don't like the CoD series? Well, for example, my buddy refuses to play anything other than "tactical modern military shooters" or whatever. And I've tried playing Boarderlands co-op with him one time and he was like "wtf is this? this is cartoony and not realistic!!" I was like, ok well lets play Halo or Gears then. He was still like "NO, i don't like those games because they have aliens and junk, i only like realistic FPS". I know, im making my friend sound like a total dumbass but what the hell is 'realistic'? CoD is relaistic? what part of it? the quick scoping? the bullet holes that take several seconds to heal or the overal respawn system? or my favourite, that thing that all the 'pros' do where they prone out and shoot at the same time. I guess i just hate how CoD has become the acceptable game for people who don't usually play video games. But how everything else is still lame and geeky and nerdy.
