Sorry if this isn't the right board to post this, and I'm sure this has been asked a lot... but I'm on a new computer and a Firedog advertisment keeps poping up randomly, sometimes every couple of mins. I tried to stop the loop in the file menu when it pops up, but that doesn't work. It is like some advertisment for a antivirus. I plan on getting one as soon as possible but I just want to stop this from poping up right now.

In addition, there is probably lots of stuff I want to get rid of that has been put on this computer. I was thinking about buying the best antivirus software that I can afford when I get some money. Would it be a good idea to take the computer to where I buy the antivirus software and have them install it, as well as install Microsft Office and delete all of my free ware? Should I just buy the antivirus software and do the rest my self? What kind of antivirus software should I get with a cable modem? I've installed stuff before, I just want to be cautious.

Luke 14:11 "For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." It is saying that as a guest your intentions are the most important, but being a parable, it is emphasizing the value of others in the presence of God.

14:15 "Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God." This applies whether they believe or not IMO. For Christians, Christmas is a holiday that represents what Jesus did and taught. I think that there is many instances in the Bible that relates to the sanctification of the heart. This is how we are blessed. As it is apparent in this thread, many atheists understand the importance of giving and respect of others for the reason of getting along. They are just people like us. In a Christian view we should encoarage atheists to take part in the holiday and they could be blessed from God, whether they want to accept it or not.

Matthew 7:20-21 "Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."

EDIT: Because I am getting sort of off topic, I will say that in many ways that have been mentioned, Christmas isn't about religion, even though for those that are religious it is about religion. So it shouldn't stop anyone from celebrating it.

Onimusha 2 had some real looking river water in the background. That is probably the best I've seen.

Yes, but my question is this: who really cares whether or not it's a religious celebration? Surely anything that increases the amount of love and goodwill in the world is something that should be welcomed and celebrated by all. I really find it rather unfortunate whenever I see people going, "Hey, Christmas is our holiday! You're an atheist! You shouldn't celebrate it!"

Yeah thats true. For a Christian the meaning of Christmas should be about everyone. If you don't want to accept a/the religion, it is still about giving and helping others. There are many other people in different religions that celebrate it as well.

Well it's certainly not about Christianity. The day itself was just ripped right off of the pagan celebration of Saturnalia. Astronomers now believe Jesus was born on June 17, and all of the celebration rituals, such as putting decorations on a tree, are ripped right out of that pagan celebration. The Church basically just came in and said "ok guys we're gonna have your pagan rituals, but uh, we're gonna call it 'Christmas' and it'll celebrate, uh, uh, the birth of Jesus, ok carry on".

Beyond that, the day has largely been stolen once again by companies, further distancing it from what it's ostensibly supposed to be about. You guys should just be glad that the name hasn't been changed on you again. :P

Yeah, but paganism, and neopaganism is still a religion. So if it isn't about Christianity, its still a religious festival and that makes it a religious celebration. I'm a Christian and I don't care that it is a pagan holiday that became a Christian celebration.

If you answer with just a "Yes.", you dont have much of a chance for her to text you back something. The best thing to do is ask her a bunch of questions, and dont start your convo off with any answers...GTA_dude

This is the best answer so far. Although, I think "being in love" is more relating to a sexual love and "loving" is more of a general love, which the former needs to have as well. Like the different greek names for love like Agape, which means unconditional. There are like five different ones. Even though they are saying basicly the same thing, they have different conatations as english phrases.

When I used to ride dirt-bikes, some guys pulled up in a white van and asked my dad if he wanted to buy two really nice brand new-looking speakers that were $1500 each. I think they asked for $500, but my dad offered $200 and they asked if he would throw in my BMX bike. It was pretty scratched up so I didn't care that much. The speakers were most likely stolen and I checked the internet and they were $1500 a peice. We had them hooked up to our surround sound for some years, although recently some neighborhood kids walked right out of the house with them. My $350 surf board I bought was stolen, but I think it was too small and I never go surfing anyway.

My opinion is that Bush did what he could. I can't believe people judge Bush the way they do, because he is just one person that had to make decisions in the time of war. I really feel like he made the decisions he thought would be right. I hate it when people say things like he made the wrong decisions because he wanted to get rich and steal oil, etc. Why would anybody want all of that oil supply in the hands of Islamic facesists? Not saying that things are any better then it was previously, but Bush did what he could to secure not only ours, but those countries as well.

The belief that our country is worse than it has ever been in history is something that I definitly disagree about. To think that our country is worse than the Great Depression is way out there. True people are suffering, but do you honsetly think that the nation as a whole is worse off than it was at that time? Some will read that and say "that says a lot", but come on really? Are country is in that much trouble economicly?

Bush has done some good. He passed that plan in 2003 to send Kenya millions of dollars to help out the a.i.d.s. crisis each year. Maybe you can disagree with him, but the way people judge him does not make sense. I am not speaking to anyone in particular, because these are things we hear all the time.
