"What did you learn from the struggles of the 3DS launch?
The first and most important learning is that games drive hardware sales."
Oh Nintendo, but didn't you know that already? That's why all your portable systems have been them total winners, specially how underpowered the Game Boys were.
Yeah, it happens sometimes that next-gen consoles don't seem to look as good as previous-gen. But in cases like those you can clearly blame the developer, not the hardware if it's clearly superior.
Well, duh. OF COURSE it will look better and whatever. Even the Wii which is openly attacked by "how much its graphics suck" was definitely more powerful than the original Xbox from the previous generation.
Fairly good article, GS. Personally, I'm a lover and player of classic and old games (pre-2007), so DLC is not a worry for me. Good to be informed, anyway.
Very nice look-back article. I still remember all those GO rumors haha, and one day completely shocked (and as a Nintendo fan, unsure) when the whole Wii thing was revealed. That ON helmet takes the cake for the best never-existing "console reveal" ever. Who still remembers the Nintendo Nexus? XD
One of the most interesting articles I've read in GameSpot, ever. I always thought that screens on the controllers, in one way or another, was the future, after seeing the Dreamcast ones. Oh boy... Nintendo might yet again earthshake the gaming playgrounds again if they do it right again... Watch in amusement the competence again following with copied ideas if they do it, heh
Very good article. I love these well-made "History Of..." articles of things worthy to remember. I never had a DC. I've always been more of a PC player.
