New PC: Cheap, Epic, Vastly Superior

Sure, you can save a *little* money and get a console, play games that are worse looking, with less options. That is a viable solution.

But as a hobbyist gamer I would argue that a PC is the only way to fly if you truly want to experience what gaming has to offer.

The immersion, controls, graphics, intelligence quotient is all off the charts in Witcher 2; and in most PC games including multiplats (ME2 for example has separate keys for each 'power' as opposed to the hack job of using a controller with limited buttons.

edit: remember steam downsamples screenshots - this looks dramatically better on my monitor.

I don't think the games, controls or community are worse. In fact, I think both the games and controls are better. And yes, it's cheaper, which is also a nice thing.

Nothing proves the old adage 'you get what you pay for' truer than consoles.

Yes, saving money is good, unless it is only marginally more for something dramatically superior.

However controls/community/games/graphics are unarguablly superior on PC.

Exactly. This post is the definition of the forum.

So, for $860 (and with some ingenuity) you can build a box that will nuke games for years. And leave consoles in the dust.

Those screens are 1600p, no upscaling, nothing funky. Straight up high res uber textured gaming goodness at 60fps.

GTA + ice with max details = 40fps, no drops in framerate.

Hey ... if Pokemon is your thing have at it! However, in my humble opinion, Pokemon on consoles and not on PC convinces me that PC is the ONLY place to be.

And not everyone wants to play mario or zelda or uncharted. Both consoles and PC have great exclusives so there is no point in arguing about how you like mario over shogun 2 because then you wouldnt get a PC, duh. My point is that a $300 console is a waste of money considering my PC was $860 and generations ahead.

Not to mention, why buy a console now, when new games are coming out as 'PC first'.
