http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/12/03/these-are-the-advanced-graphics-settings-crysis-3-will-have-high-res-textures-at-launch-confirmed/

Following reveal of Crysis 3s system requirements over the weekend, Ive received confirmation from EA and Crytek of which precious secondary settings well be able to tweak in the game. If you remember, Crysis 2 launched with an anemic four tweakable options: v-sync, game resolution, HUD bobbing, and a general quality setting. A patch after release expanded these, and fan-made utilities helped out, but the good news is that EA and Crytek arent shipping Crysis 3 in the same state.

Heres what youll see if you click on Advanced Graphics Options in Crysis 3.

  • Game Effects
  • Object
  • Particles
  • Post Processing
  • Shading
  • Shadows
  • Water
  • Anisotropic Filtering
  • Texture Resolution
  • Motion Blur Amount
  • Lens Flares

Oh... I won't have to bother with my app this time around.

Doesn't matter. I got one made and ready to be ported anyways.

Can you describe the technology driving the grass system in C3? What distinguishes your tech from other games grass rendering?

Corbetta: This tech allows us to visualize thousands of individual blades of grass, and is very cost and memory efficient as we can even achieve good results on older console hardware like 360 and PS3. One of the most important things is that this technology is improving gameplay. For example, you can see AI aliens running through the fields and bending individual blades of grass, and things such as projectiles, explosions and wind affect grass movement too. This gives a predator-style gameplay experience in the Fields level, which is very in line with the experience C3 wants to offer. There are not many other games that can offer this kind of realistic grass simulation and rendering on a multiplatform basis.

Continuation of the article.

clyde46

It seems like rendering realistic grass is all the rage these days: that skyrim mod, far cry 3, crysis 3, ...

Crysis-3-Explosions-Beneath-the-Liberty-

Dayum that looks amazing. Looks like another big jump crytek will be making. perhaps their final one before they move into F2P

Well it matters cause it's a +3 year old card and not 2...

GPU has had 2 generation of succesors... that's about 30-40% increase in power.

Also, you didn't get the best of the best at that time either.

Today you card is barely even worth 100$...

no-scope-AK47

All irrelevant

You give bmw drivers a bad name I hope you maintain your car better than your pc. Not sure what your smoking but the 720 is a console and unless it is using water or sub-zero tech the heat will limit what it can do. Also the price will be a huge factor so I really doubt it will be on the level of current high end hardware. A mid range card today is the hd 7870 it pulls 120w at idle and 300w at full tilt that is just the gpu. Pc hardware is so far ahead that I don't think consoles can even match a mid level gaming pc.

actually a 7870 with 100% gpu usage its draws up to 175w of power, not 300w (most likely your looking at a system load).

Lol a 7870 is not 300w at full load, wtf are you smoking, more like 175w. And a HD 7970M is about as powerful as 7850 and only uses 85 watts at load. So yes I fully expect that a GPU 2 years newer than the 7970m can draw around 100-120 watts and be much more powerful than a 7870 from last year.. And the next Xbox will be like a HD 9850 in terms of power and efficiency. Price? By the time Xbox 720 launches there will be over 80 million people on Xbox Live, around half have Gold accounts, and 65% of all revenue on Xbox live is all profit. So your looking at easily over a billion dollars a year in profit with Xbox Live by the time 720 launches, they're not just going to quit LIVE when 720 releases.. Also when 360 launched RAM was expensive as hell, around $70 per 512MB, here we are in 2012 and you can now get 12GB for $50. What MS saves in RAM costs they could put into the GPU

Lol, your goofy, too so I wouldn't be correcting him with your some of your nonsense. Now a 7970m when fully used with double precision workloads its 7x slower then a 7850 . AMD reduced the transistor count and die size by sacrificing DP performance. This type of cropping will really hurt direct x 11 shader model 5 and tessellation performance. So comparing a 7850 vs 7970m and saying it only uses 85w but dont state why it does is error on your part. Now your really a noob to hardware are you performance of a 9850..... if you really think they will put a gpu like that your an goof ball. Its been pretty much confirmed the xbox 720 is in production and is based on southern island architecture using 28nm which means you wont see more the a 7850 in it. but expect 7670-7850 or possible two 7670's for crossfire or alternate rendering like with 3D imaging.

I hope the 7870 will be the minimum level of gpu power in the next gen consoles. I don't count the wii u as that is a POS out of date before it even came out. I also hope that they support the latest wi-fi standard and usb 3 with a optical out and a fat hard drive.

What's the point in turning next-gen consoles into ovens by dropping in overpowered hardware. A 7850 would almost be overkill:

  • DirectX 11
  • High Resolution Texture Pack
  • Ultra Quality settings
  • 4x AA
  • Level: Times Square (2 minute custom time demo)
  • 1900x1200

Untitled-17.png

HD7870-37.jpg

This is the current state-of-the-art for PC games and even a 7850 can handle it at max. I would recommend lowering expectations a bit and looking for something like A10+7670, or a 7750/70 single GPU setup.

As I said double precision performance, which will affect shader model 5 and tessellation performance. If your counting on a stripped gpu to come with all the bells a whistles with that low of a TDP, you can not use a 7970m as an example when its transistor count is low affecting its full processing potential.

Show some benchmarks showing what the 7970m is missing out on, I want real world benchmarks not theoretical jibberish

Yeah, if above all else the grass is amazing looking in this game. By far the most real looking grass aroundseanmcloughlin
Finally, foliage that doesn't look like crap. Hopefully hair is next on that list. Those are basically the two things that really stood out as generally bad looking this generation.

Hermits, are you prepared? :o

Hm, I fit right in, and my OC'd 670 GTX should count as a 680 GTX...

Not too excited about the actual game, though. I'm counting it as a benchmark, from what I've seen, it still lacks most of the things that made the original Crysis so fun to play...

Might have to upgrade my 580.

Upgrade a 580? Are you mad?!

Can't wait to play it at2,560x1,440 at 100FPS.

Maybe console peasants can experience the same visual fidelity in 15-25 years.

I'd still prefer the GOTY Xbox 720 version @ 1080p with better graphics locked at 60FPS and Uncompressed 5.1 LPCM audio

So, making things up while lacking any sort of non-speculative evidence to back up your point... this must be your newest act of desperation, am I right? ;)

Nah, it's worth upgrading a 580 to 680 SLI or 7970 Crossfire.

If I was going to SLI, I need two slots. I also want to bring along my 460 which does PhysX which takes up one of those slots. I only have two PCI-E x8 on my mobo. I would need to go to 2011 to get more slots.

My job as a moderator. I deal with spammers 99% of the time, he's one of them.

Literally takes him longer to make new accounts than it does for me to deal with them.
