About time we started to ditch DX9... And XP.

Good. It's about time that devs are moving forward in PC technology.

#5 Posted by LordRork (2690 posts) -

Considering that the 5770 is 3 years old now, I wouldn't say it's that surprising.

But let's hope that it looks decent from the start and doesn't have a texture pack released months after the launch...

Then hopefully they are really pushing the graphics

#7 Posted by clyde46 (47595 posts) -
I'm going to call it, it will look great but the console limitations will still be in place.
#8 Posted by NoodleFighter (7862 posts) -

I wonder how much it will sell without the DX10 gamers market

#9 Posted by k2theswiss (16599 posts) -

good? nearly every graphics card should support it by now anyways lol

I don't like cysis btw

Hm, I fit right in, and my OC'd 670 GTX should count as a 680 GTX...

Not too excited about the actual game, though. I'm counting it as a benchmark, from what I've seen, it still lacks most of the things that made the original Crysis so fun to play...

Finally. Tired of broke PC gamers holding back gaming with their ghetto builds from 2007 crying modern games are unoptimized.

I'll probably be able to run it on high quality. Might get another 8 gigs of RAM in the meantime.

Can't wait. Crysis 2 on extreme with DX11 and Hi-res textures looks amazing.

If it's anything like the original 2 games more ram might be a better idea.

No rush, I'd wait for a new batch of GPUs, AMD 8000-series and Nvidia 700-series should be here soon... :)

heretrix

Why? :?

I still don't know of a game that asks more than 8 GB, and I think same will apply to Crysis 3. Going overboard on RAM is a waste. Not a big waste since RAM is cheap nowdays, but if gaming's all you do, you won't benefit at all...

doesnt matter the ps3 version will be better

I see ya point. I only got this 580 because it was used and it was at an awesome price.

If you like blur and slideshows mashed together, then yeah, sure thing, the PS3 version will rock! ;)

Gotta admit, that's true. The only moment I noticed I might need more RAM (4 GB currently) was when I tried to run Windows 8 via VirtualBox/vmWare Player. But in games? No, not yet.

Not bad, 580 GTX is a great card!

I used to own one till earlier this year. Had a reference model, but the loud fan was really annoying. Then I decided to slap an aftermarket cooler on it, but during the installation a screw got stripped, and while trying to remove it, I scratched the PCB with a screwdriver, sending a bunch of money down the drain... :(

The warranty didn't cover user-made damage, so I had to go for a new card. Went with Asus 670 GTX DC2, very happy with the thing, but wasn't planned. Wanted to keep my 580, sell it and go for one of the 700/8000-series cards...

I think ClassicRockFTW laid an egg. And it grows. Fast.

Yes, but Crysis 3 takes advantage of DX11 a lot more and looks better than those games!

I had my 460 as my daily driver. When OC'd it was a beast of a card. I had the money and saw it whilst browsing the members market on OCUK's forum, put in an offer and it got accepted. Then it dawned on me that I would need a new PSU to run it as well as my 460. I only had a 550W before. My 580 is the Asus reference model, which is my first Asus product I bought since I had a really bad mobo from them back when I had an old P4. The cooler is stupidly loud but I play with headphones on so its an non-issue till I have to leave my PC on to do something overnight. That and the stupidly loud front fan on my 600T.
