[QUOTE="Bluff_Master_2"][QUOTE="genemm"]27. Radeon HD2900XT 1GB 28. Geforce 9600GT 512MB 29. Radeon HD3870 512MB 30. Radeon HD4670 512MB 31. Radeon HD2900XT 512MB 32. Geforce 8800GTS 640MB Slig0

8800 GTS 640 is better than all those cards and the 1GB and 512MB models of the 2900XT are almost identical in performance.

No it isn't. 8800GTS is a lot slower than 9600GT and 8800GT. Think before you speak.

Ok time to conjure some proof!

Stock vs stock, 8800GT beats the GTS most of the times especially in lower resolutions. Overclocked vs overclocked the GTS beats the GT. The 9600GT in inferior to the 8800GT under any circumstances so I dont have to show any benchmarks with it. A stock 9600GT will only be as good as a stock GTS but overclocked the GTS will comfortably beat the 9600GT.

Seems like you are just one of those who must overrate the G92/94 cuz you own one.

Out of curiosity for most games that come out (not running on the highest setting) Is a nVidia 8600GT out dated? (I mean it seems when games come out this one is still is above the recommended requirements)

It's ok for most games in medium settings. It will run most games which are a couple or more years old maxed out.

It won't be able to run recommend for much longer. Of course it will run games for a while yet, but don't expect anything stunning.

I might have to check out the HD4890 looks like it has double the performance of a HD4850 and 9800GTX+.

Even at the impeccably ridiculous setting of 19x12 with 8xAA it is only 60% faster.:|

Graphics cards will be the death of me I swear. I have a pretty upt to date computer, okay 'had' a pretty up to date computer, A few years old now and still works a treat, but I keep checking my drivers and my graphics card and sound now appear to be out of date (thank you free driver scanner), which has kind of come on quick. Though it most likely will explain why many pc games won't install on my pc, its not that I haven't got the space because i have loads. But compared to the other home pc's that are laying about gathering dust they seem to play my games just fine. Now here's where my brain melts. I know I have a basic ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series Graphics card. Now some of my games have listed graphic cards that would be suitable for that game but there's so many to go through especially for different games. I just haven't a clue which one I should be ideally getting. Maybe an ATI Radeon X9000 should be sufficient?

So g@y, how can my 8600gt be worse than 7600gt? BTW the way, which will you guys choose 4870 512mb for $195 or 4890 for 270? Please note that it's in Australian dollars.

Oh one more thing, I game on a resolution of 1920x1080 and I have the ability to do 2way crossfire.

^^ Great card, just recently got one. (98 -> 8th) woo! If u play at high res. if whoops the 4890 (closest competitor), also gives the GTX285 a run for it's money

EDIT: TC; the GTX275, on nearly every comparision/reivew shows the GTX275 matches/is better than the 4890 at every resolution, and especially higher ones...)

Care to have a look?

Thanks

^^ I'm not much of a PC dude. But depends on your budget/needs. I'm seeing you have money atm, but are you gonna HC game? I had a read here: http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/532257-3x-gtx-280-vs-3x-gtx.html and http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-sli,2298.html So basically unless u need to game at 2560x1600 at Ultra settings then ANY of the combinations u posted are way more than enough. GtX275/280/285 SLI are already all overkill. If you are planning to SLI/TRISLI, beware of the heat though.. Sorry don't know much about SLi'ing : )

nvidia gtx 295 is the fastest card out there and the most expensive, its only 10 percent more faster than 4870x2 and yet 150 dollars more expensive.

ull see that card drop at least 150 dollars when the 5870x2 comes out, cause it will kick the junk out of the gtx 295.

IN OTHER WORDS DO NOT GET THE GTX 295. CAUSE ULL REGRET IT WHEN 5870X2 COMES OUT THIS SEPTEMBER.

If you had to split these card into 4 catergories.... Extreme Performance, High performance, Medium Performace and Low Performance. Where would they start and end....

example would you class 1-10 as Extreme Performace?

As i work in retail and customers are always after graphic cards and gaming machines a list like this would be very handy to have at reference.

Here's how I would rank this list (as of 7/23/09) personally: 1-10 = Extreme Performance 11-36 = High Performance 36-69 = Medium Performance 70+ = Low Performance
