Then why are you wasting your time posting a reply ? ....The TC took a lot of time and effort to post this and, correct me if I'm wrong, but just about everyone responding to this thread seems very pleased with it and are enjoying giving personal input on their own graphic card history and comparing cards currently being used against this list....

I thought I was doing you guys a favor. Instead of needing to ask people if your card is good, you can just look it up with an objective rating on performance. Yes, TC spent a lot of time making the topic, but that's just too bad. This topic is still good for discussion though.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html The site however isn't that accurate at measuring actual performance. A 4670 is better than a 4770? GTX 295 ranks 6th? 4870 x2 ranks 10th? There are several inaccuracies in there. This list has very few if not any errors.

This list also takes from a variety of sources while that list takes benchmarks from a single program.

HI. What you have there is an Intel integrated video chip.

It is not a graphics card, rather it is a 3D accelerator built

into the motherboard. I was trying to find a comparison

chart to see what card it is equivalent to but maybe

another poster could help.

THANK YOU for posting something, sure its not the precise answer I was looking for but you tried. Thank you...I'm just confused by it, cause games require a variety of 32MB, 64MB, etc. and I don't know which this would be considered. I'd like to play Jade Empire, Doom 3, The Sims 3 (I know that I can't play it) so I'll settle for The Sims 2. And there are a few more games I'd like to play.

is the GTX295 much better than the HD 4870 X2? I googled the prices and the GTX was about $530 when the 4870 is $380. Is it $150 better?

Hi!!! I'm back!!! How's everyone? Did the questions of some people answered by the others? I hope so.. Now, let me see if I can help too...

I'll be doggone... According to the list, my card is NUMBER ONE, muahahahaaaaa (evil laugh)

chinchillables2

Wow! Congratulations for owning the top video card based on performance as of now!!! Just remember that technology advances very very fast.

Good job of color coding the list. :p

My card is #69 on the list, but it can play Company of Heroes, Bioshock, and Crysis and decent resolution and medium-high graphic settings.

xialon

Thanks for appreciating the color code feature.

The 8600GT should be put up ahead of the 7600GT.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-8600-gt-and-gts-review-and-shootout/13

nVidiaGaMer

8600GT is really ahead of the 7600GT on the list. Check it again to verify.

I may have missed it, but I didn't see the nVidia 9500GS (512 MB) in the list. GT was there, but no GS.

topsemag55

Yes, you are right. NVidia 9500GS 512MB is not on the list. I'll try to put it to where it should be. Just in case it will take more time, I'll ask for some help with regards to this from other posters in this thread. Please let's help each other to make this thread more accurate and beneficial for us all.

I didn't include most of the Intel GMA primarily because this thread aims to guide PC users to have the appropriate video cards to play specific and up-to-date video games but the Intel GMA cards are not suited for video games, thus, rendering them not that appropriate to put them on the list. But nonetheless, I'll try to include them later to avoid video card company discriminations.

Hi, yes you are doing us a favor but your introduction was somehow rude by saying that this thread is a waist of time. This thread is not just about looking on the list and goes out to store and buy that specific video card. This is also a room for discussion as you yourself mentioned too. Another is that this will allow users to tell everybody about the standing of their current rig. There is a sense of showing off their rig to others, Q and A place, and clarification of other unknown stuff. All of these can't be found without having a thread.

I thank you for posting like that. Because of it I found out that many of the posters love the topic that I created or continued to discuss (crediting the previous topic starters from the other websites).

Bluff_Master_2

ATI biased ?? How's that ? Nvidia's still the best, ATI's no slouch either. In fact some ATI's even overclock better.

If something's incorrect and you have the proof, then show it.

This list isn't perfect, there's going to be mistakes, but it's pretty close in accuracy compared to any other list out there.

I already did on page 10 which the TC conviently ignored...

[QUOTE="genemm"]27. Radeon HD2900XT 1GB 28. Geforce 9600GT 512MB 29. Radeon HD3870 512MB 30. Radeon HD4670 512MB 31. Radeon HD2900XT 512MB 32. Geforce 8800GTS 640MB Bluff_Master_2
8800 GTS 640 is better than all those cards and the 1GB and 512MB models of the 2900XT are almost identical in performance.

And besides if you just look at that list, it's obvious that ATI cards have been favoured whereever possible. Why not have a = for disputed cards?

the 4870 1GB is pretty much neck and neck with the 216 core GTX 260. The HD 4770 is NOT better than the 8800 ultra. The 4830 is not better than the 8800GT. And as I already stated the 2900XT and 3870 are defnitely inferior to the 8800GTS 640MB and 9600GT.

Still not biased? Just a co-incidence that all the mistakes seem to favour ATI?

If you have proof of what you're saying then you can send it to the OP and he'll correct it. I don't think anything ranked is meant to be biased.

I dont have to give any proof as the burden of it is not on me. The TC says x card is better than y card, he is the one who has to give proof of a claim.

It's a fact that the R600 based cards(2900XT and 3870) are absolute crap when you enable filtering and they are undisputedly inferior to the 8800GTS and 9600GT.

As for the other ones, there is no absolute better card so it should be,

216 core GTX 260 = 1GB 4870

HD 4770 = 8800 ultra

HD 4830 = 8800GT.

Bluff_Master_2

While I personally consider assigning a an absolute ranking to any video card to be dubious at best (since performance can vary wildly depending on the usage scenario) I'm really not seeing anything terribly out of line with the list that was posted. Sure maybe you could swap a few depending on what game you're playing...but so what? I think it would be a lot more prudent to take the list as a quick "at-a-glance" guide rather than being the end-all-be-all bible GPU performance.

Anyway if you really think something is out of line, I would suggest posting some benchmarks or stats to prove your point. I'm also going to suggest that you drop the "TC is biased" stuff immediately...it's one thing to point out a mistake if see one but if you're going to make personal remarks then it's going to be considered trolling. Keep the discussion about video cards, not about whether the TC prefers ATI or Nvidia.

Well ok I will keep that in mind.

I have said that the 2900XT and 3870 cards should be put lower than 8800GTS and 9600GT cuz they have poor performance under AA/AF. To say that the 1GB 2900XT is superior to the 9600GT, to say that the 2900XT and 3870 are superior to the 8800GTS is indeed quite out of line.

And as I said earlier the burden of proof is not on me, the initial claim comes from the TC. If the TC can prove that the mistakes I have pointed out are not mistakes, then I will be the one who has to prove what I am saying.

What would be the best for a 450W PSU? A GTS 250, 9800 GTX+ or the ATI equivalent?

[QUOTE="genemm"]27. Radeon HD2900XT 1GB 28. Geforce 9600GT 512MB 29. Radeon HD3870 512MB 30. Radeon HD4670 512MB 31. Radeon HD2900XT 512MB 32. Geforce 8800GTS 640MB Bluff_Master_2
8800 GTS 640 is better than all those cards and the 1GB and 512MB models of the 2900XT are almost identical in performance.

No it isn't. 8800GTS is a lot slower than 9600GT and 8800GT. Think before you speak.

Number 1 ftw :D

Excellent list! While not perfect it's definitely a quick and handy go-to guide with relatively accurate information.

Good Job!
