nice list! someone should get a CPU/processor thread going, keep updating threads like these. years from now, we can all look back at how fast technology advances as well.

We can probably get that added to the FAQ as a link. Let me just do some research and see what I come up with.

Just remember to keep names descriptive of what the object is, it would be a pain otherwise to link stuff up and replica articles annoy me.

Awesome thread!!! but what is SLI/Crossfire??? thannks!Solid_Tango

SLI/Crossfire is 2 or more GPU's linked together for higher performance, better framerates, etc.

You can usually run up to 3 in SLI (or 2 GTX295 Dual GPU's in Quad-SLI) and up to 3-4 GPU's in Crossfire (Most people will usually use 3 single GPU's or 2 X2 Radeon's in Quadfire). I say 3 GPU's total cause alot of them take up 2 slots as it is depending on the room you have on the motherboard.

Hope that made some sense, I'm terrible at explaining things sometimes. ;)

I wouldn't be surprised, as your video card does not exist. :P

Perhaps using those specifications, you can tell me exactly what graphics card I have then. Everything I've read on my computer says that this HD 4800 is the card I'm using.

Is there much difference in the gtx 285 1gb and 2gb? I play most of my games at 1920 by 1200. And I never use aa or af. I currently have a 8800 gtx. 4 gigs of ram and a q6600 CPU.

Hi guys!!! I'm just informing you that I'll go to school again starting next week. I might not be able to update this thread frequently, thus, I am asking for your help. If there is already a new video card then please try to research and post it here including where it should be in the list. Another minor request is to keep this thread alive by asking questions and ofcourse answering other people's questions here. You can also put a link to your sig so that you can spread this thread all over gamespot and even the whole internet by pasting the link elsewhere. We know that this thread is very helpful and will be more helpful if this thread gets updated faster and more accurate.

Whoever bought an 8800gtx at release might of gotten one of , if not the best gpu value in history. Stilllow highend after all this time. Great list btw.

I am very satisfied with my purchase of the 8800GTX. Although I did buy it a couple months after it was released. It's still going strong!

They are almost the same, the 4890 generally wins but only by a frame or two. On 25 x 16 though it gets defeated. w00t One of my card is at #6th and other is at #18th :D Although my third is at #100th :P

I would choose the 4890 because it's a single GPU solution. You can pick what you wish though.

Good job of color coding the list. :p

My card is #69 on the list, but it can play Company of Heroes, Bioshock, and Crysis and decent resolution and medium-high graphic settings.

Very helpful list and after reading I may reconsider my choice for GPU upgrade.

I was gonna go with the GTX+ 9800 which is like 18th on the list and see that the GS 250 is equal to the 9800 but smaller and takes less power and that they are the same price basically on newegg.com... so all that aside is the 250 notisibly faster than the 9800gtx+ or is it just the same card redesigned?

Either way with the pricing being the same and the 250 a newer version i'm better off getting that one right?

Now that I have my GTX 285, all I can say is "Wow." I was expecting a decent jump from my GTX 260, but it's a light-year jump. Never thought I'd be maxing out Far Cry 2 @ 1920x1200 on a single-GPU solution :) (70FPS !=O!)

The 8600GT should be put up ahead of the 7600GT.
