Do you think there is life after death?

What do you think? I have been recently conflicted after losing somebody recently. I just remember seeing them on the gourney and while it is true when your dead, your dead. You've been dead or unconscious whatever you call it until you were born. I just look at life also and believe there has to be something else. I think living life is much harder, and death is easy. But I am 50/50 on it, I believe it is possible but at the same time I think it is like being unconscious like when you sleep. What does OT think?

You are your brain. Your personality, your memories, your thoughts, and everything else that defines you are products of your brain. So, once your brain ceases to function you cease to exist. Adios, amigo!

I do feel there is something after life.  We'll all find out someday.

Certainly hope so after reading so much sh*t on here i want the time back
#10 Posted by Blueresident87 (5195 posts) -

Yes there is life after death, for all the people who didn't die and are still living.

Once the brain ceases to function, that's it I believe.

#11 Posted by Wolfetan (7522 posts) -

Nope.

#12 Posted by CHOASXIII (14628 posts) -

When you die you become a spirit and travel to an afterlife land where there is a bath house that you can visit and most of the workers there are strangely frog people.

#13 Posted by QuebecNationale (152 posts) -

There's no such thing as after life. Once you're dead, you're gone forever and you'll sleep for an eternity.

#14 Posted by Zeviander (9503 posts) -
"Life" ceases when the bodily systems shut down and become irreparably damaged from a lack of oxygen. Accepting this has made my life that much more meaningful and enjoyable.
#15 Posted by THE_DRUGGIE (24959 posts) -

Living after death really defeats the purpose of death in the first place.

I think Death has enough emotional issues as is, we don't need the existence of another life trivialize his otherwise mundane, gloomy job.

#16 Posted by _BlueDuck_ (11981 posts) -

If there was no "life" before you were alive (what was it like before you were born?), why would there be "life" after?

Thinking aint allowed when you aint livin'
#19 Posted by KC_Hokie (16099 posts) -
I think there is something. The human brain is run by electricity so that electricity could go somewhere (your thoughts, memories, etc.). I even think it will be possible to put your brain electricity into a computer like in the show Caprica.
#20 Posted by Celldrax (14532 posts) -

Most likely not.

It's a nice thought though.

Not really, that's way too simple to be true.

Your essense/soul/spirit will either reincarnate,or ascend to higher, and different densities.

Nah, the brain's really complex.

#25 Posted by Dariency (9406 posts) -

There's no way to know for sure. I'll find out when I die.

It'll be cool though if we come back as another human baby and start a new life, and the cycle just keeps repeating.

#26 Posted by nooblet69 (5162 posts) -

I never died so I don't know.  I'd like to think some part of our spirit remains after we die.  Would be nice...

Sometimes life is a nightmare.

But it's all just a dream,in a sense.

You're most real self,is your soul.

#29 Posted by TAMKFan (32707 posts) -

Probably not. It would be nice if there was though.

#30 Posted by k2theswiss (16598 posts) -

A: i kinda hope so. I wouldn't want to die and every thing just go POOOF but, that is death lol

b: nope, everything is controled by your brain so when you die your brain loose it all

As soon as you said spirit, I thought of Spirited Away. :P As for the topic, I think our star seeds are reborn in space and eventually make their way to Earth.

As much as people would like there to be another life after death there is absolutely no evidence that there is a life after death. I mean was there something before you were born? There wasn't anything before you were born so why should there be anything after you die?

I think that after you die, that's it. Game's over. We need a functioning brain to be alive and after death our brain simply stops working so basically we are gone. Then there is decomposition in the ground and that's probably all there is to it.

So sorry guys but I just don't see the evidence that there is life after death.

That's because you're blind & ignorant to things like spirits, different planes of existence, and the like.

But different planes of existence do not really exist and so do spirits probably. And if different planes of existences and spirits exist then I believe they must obey the laws of science and physics and chemistry, just like everything else.

So are you saying that Hell as a place of eternal torment also exists?

Even If those places do in fact exist I believe they can be explained using science and physics.

In a sense, yes.Maybe it's one of the lower astral realms.

And not really, unless tech/science evolves enough.,

Or implements magic(real magic).

Yeah,i play to much Final Fantasy.

It's not really scary... If you think about all the unborn babies who never got a chance at life. How dare you whine about your short time here when others never got a chance

But my mother just told me that there is no life after death and that this life is probably all there is. So who should I believe, you or my mother?
