back in 5th grade, i honestly did not care.

to this day, i honestly still don't care.

yes, it's sad. yes, a lot of ppl died.

but I would be lying if i told everyone that I cared about 2000+ ppl whom I've ever met before that died.

as harsh as it sounds, thats how it is for me at least.

however,
If you lived in NY or at least knew someone that passed away during 9.11, i could understand that you care.

were you sympathetic about 9/11?

I was already in the Army when 9/11 happened, so of course I cared. The main reason at the time was because we were sure we would go to war over it when it was obvious the Pentagon was targeted. Unrelated to the military, I have family in NYC and a cousin who worked in the WTC (she survived).

There's countries that reach that death count every week. It's bad that people die prematurely, of course. Whether thousands die in a plane crash or thousands die because of murder on the street is no difference to me.

Yes, I cared.

It was shocking, horrible and the most awful thing I've ever seen on live TV.

Watching planes explode into the sides of buildings, which then crumbled down into rubble and then massive clouds of smoke as people desperately leaped out of the windows with no other options but to die is about as awful as it gets.

It affected this country FAR beyond just the event itself. Airlines and airports and the way paying customers are treated has cahnged drastically. I feel like I dont have the freedoms, nor do i recieve the courtesy that i used to when flying or when dealing with security. It has also cahnged the direction of the country, and foreign policies, for better or worse, its your decision.

Dont be so close minded in thinking that it is something that happened to THOSE people,  and doesnt affect your life.

Absolutely. Likewise, I care deeply about that man who didn't bother anyone that was butchered today in London. Dreadful attacks.

Yes, I cared. Not because I have any particular attachment necessarily to the WTC or America. I care any time thousands of innocent people are killed. You'd have to be a little off-kilter to not care at all.

I cared at first, then like a month later I was sick of hearing survivor stories like "and after the plan crashed I reached up from under my desk and found my Bible, and that's when I knew God saved me". Then over the years 9/11 meant less and less, too many politicians playing the 9/11 card really ruined its impact.

No I didn't and still don't. I personally think that 911 is the most over glamorized event and is milked to no end, even though tragedy's on a much larger scale are pretty much forgotten. Can't remember the last time I heard about the Asian Tsunami, but reminded of 911 almost every week in some form.

A natural disaster is different. 9/11 was people purposely killing thousands of civilians.

I remember to this day of waking up and turning on the TV to the news report. The first imagine was seeing on of the Trade Towers on fire, I thought it was a movie. A few seconds later I came to terms it was real then became really mad.

9/11 is my birthday. I have to deal with lame comments and jokes for the rest of my life. The terrorist attack was obviously horrible, it's too bad that many Americans didn't learn anything from it. Crappy foreign policies come back to haunt you later, 9/11 is only one of the many examples of that.

Not in any personal sort of way.

I suppose my train of thought was something more along the lines of 'damn, that's heavy'. I was really more concerned in the events that would take place afterwards (of course, that just turned into a 10+ year long bullshit conflict, but anyway).

Yes i feel bad that it happened, yes i care becasue of what that event and its after effects represent on many different levels.

The thing i hate is how everything is justified by saying terrorist or 9/11. Like that family guy clip where lois is running for mayor.

Nobody should be indifferent to 9/11, but people should not fixate on something that does not effect us as much, if at all as current world events and move on.

I care, of course. Do I expect everyone else to care? No, especially those outside the U.S. There's a lot of things I don't care about abroad. I expect it's the same for other people. Most people tend to care more about things closer to home.

Considering I lived less than 20 miles away... yeah, not to mention a lot people I knew worked in NY. (Was in fourth grade in 2001)
