Yeah... Nothing can replace the feeling I got the first time I saw and played Soul Calibur. Plus it gave us Samba de Amigo, Chu Chu Rocket, and Jet Grind Radio (or Jet Set Radio for those people outside North America). Yes, I do so love the Dreamcast. :)

Well, not the console per say, but... Here's the story:

I wanted nothing to do with the PS2. Being a Sega fangirl, I was kinda ticked off at what Sony had to do to steal the thunder from the Dreamcast, which was lying about the real world performance of the PS2, causing the brain-numbed idiots to salivate for the console like good little Pavlovian dogs, only the dogs were smarter. ;)

Well, I wasn't going to be one of those people who bought into the hype. And I didn't. In fact, I still don't. But then I was introduced to Guitar Hero II when my brother got it for a birthday present. It took over 6 years, but finally someone put a game out on the PS2 that actually made me want to buy the system. Still, I wasn't going to.

So May of this year, said brother comes to town on vacation, brings GHII but leaves his PS2 behind. He then buys one, and gives it to me before he leaves. So now I own a PS2 with no games. And it wasn't until July that I finally broke down and bought my own copy of GHII. In a way, I felt a little dirty, since I told myself long ago I wanted nothing to do with Sony's gaming division.

In any case, I love GHII. But that will probably be the last time I spend money on Playstation anything.

An item is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, and as such, is subjective. This is why you get people who would pay $1500 for a PS3 at Christmas, and then you have people like me who wouldn't even consider it until it's less than $250.

So I guess what I'm saying is, a console is worth the price tag when you buy it.

Yeah, NiGHTS is looking great. If it plays anything like the original, it is going to bea fanstastic game. I feel sorry for people who were to infantile to play the original when it came out, or too infantile now to enjoy anything other than "mature" games.

Anyway, I am looking forward to the WFC battles. There are going to be a number of 2P online battle modes. I am going to enjoying owning all of you in any speed run competitions. ;)

[QUOTE="xXHackettXx"]thats funny reminds me of all the stuff they found in disney movies. lolJuggernaut140

what? tell me of these... "things".

Maybe you were a little young for those... Basically, there's a scene in the Lion King where Simba flops on the ground and the dust particles go into the air. At some point, the particles spell out "SEX."

Then there's The Little Mermaid... One of the towers in the palace bears a striking similarity to a, um.... part of the male anatomy. It is most visible on the original VHS cover.

Oh yeah, there's this part in Aladdin where Aladdin is kinda wrestling with the tiger offscreen. If you listen VERY closely to your TV at that part, it sounds like he's saying something similar to "Good teenagers... Now take off your clothes."

That's all I got. I'm pretty sure there's something in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, but that escapes me right now.

Here is something I don't often see suggested, probably because no one buys stand-alone DVD recorders anymore, or they don't feel like spending extra money:

Get an upscaling DVD recorder (recorder is the key) that does at least 1080i, since those usually are built with HDMI now. Plug the Wii into the DVD recorder using the best input the DVD recorder has (usually S-Video). Make sure you're using HDMI or component to run from the recorder to your TV. Turn everything on, and set your DVD recorder to the input. One you've got the image up, set the DVD player to upscale the image to the maximum resolution of your TV.

Basically, playing upscaled Wii games is like watching an upscaled DVD. And if you've ever watched an upscaled DVD on a 1080i TV, you should know how much of a difference it makes. If you haven't, let me tell you: It's a big difference.

Don't forget Drawn to Life... That comes out tomorrow. I know I'll be picking up both that and Jam Sessions this week.

I've been playing video games since I was 4. I'm 30 now, AND I'm female. That alone makes me more hardcore than 99% of you chumps. ;)

In any case, I'm not hardcore.... I'm a gamer. Anyone who feels the need to call themselves hardcore is just a tool with an ego problem.

I can say that while it has a very trippy art direction, and some of the most creative level design I've seen in years, Super Mario Galaxy does not have good graphics.

This game has SO MUCH going for it, it looks really really fun and trippy, but can we just let the graphics go?

If sheep concentrate on the graphics of this game, they're missing the more important, bigger picture!

Big_Red_Button

Seriously, what constitutes good graphics? Is it realism? Is it an ultra-bright color palete? Is it cell-shading? Is it sprites? Is it volumetric lighting and particle effects? Is it million-polygon character models?

... Or is it just a matter of opinion?

C´monthat´s the Intellevision controller, and it wasn´t a bad one ;)

rickhuntermacro

Yeah, I liked that one better than the Colecovision one, even though they were pretty much clones. And they both pretty much sucked.
