So, its basically what the guy above said, you're mad because you have no skill at the game, what type of weapon you use determines your strategy, if you cannot use your strategy to win, thats a skill issue, not a game issue.Nagidar

I'm not mad, I still think it's a great game but it's just not as balanced as Resistance 2 imo. It is true that part of that lies within my own skills in the game (which in Gears of War is very poor), but how exactly does one gain skill in the game if I can barely stay alive? Am I supposed to magically all of a sudden get better, while I'm dead for most of the rounds I play?

I think he does not like the game because he gets wooped online by better players. It seems he prefers a game in which he is able to kick some rear end.Pimpshigity21

In some ways you're right, but that's not the whole case. Regardless of what game I play, the fact that I have limited hours to play will mean that I will get my ass handed to me in any game. However in a game like R2, Halo 3, or even CoD let's say, I can still at least do something and rack up some points for myself. I don't want the game to be easy, but making it ridiculous for a semi-casual gamer isn't suited for me. Often times in GeoW 2, I will die in one hit without even being able to put up a fight.

So...what specifically did you like and dislike about each game? Your reasons are VERY vague.Nagidar

Resistance 2 has great maps with a good balance. 60 player Skirmishes are crazy fun and 16 player modes are more organized/competitive. The weapons are fun and also well balanced IMO. I can pop into a game, get kills, and do well for myself.

Gears 2 is far too dependent on 1 shot kill weapons despite them saying how the lancers were going to be better, I still find them to be extremely weak compared the 1 shot weapons. Their cover system is still one of the best and a great thing to have, and everything people know and love about Gears of War is still present. The only one thing that I can really complain about Gears of War 2 is that like all of Epic games, it's suited towards hardcore gamers. What it all comes down to for me, is that R2 is just way more fun to play.

I own a ps3 and a 360 and these two games were the big holiday season hits I was looking forward to. I beat the R2 campaign and played both the co-op and comp modes, and I also played in the beta. I also got invited into the Killzone 2 beta and I just bought GeoW 2.

For starters let me just say that I have had great fun playing Resistance 2 and as an avid player of the 1st game, I find it to be way better than R:FoM. I hated the Gears 1 multiplayer and unfortunately my worries about GeoW 2 turned out to be present in the game. GeoW 2 is a game that is not casual friendly at all, and for some reason I find it even harder to play than the first. Perhaps it's that a large population of the gamers are hardcore Gears 1 players. It's very frustrating trying to play a game where you find yourself to be hopeless and unable to do anything, and that is exactly how I feel when I play GeoW 2 online.

I am a decent R2 player and was even a decent Halo 2 player, but I can not do squat in Gears. As a semi-casual fps gamer, I don't recommend that anyone bother playing competitively on the 2nd installation of GeoW. It's still a greatly made and awesome game, but maybe you should play it alone or with a group of buddies instead of against strangers on live.

Also, as a KZ2 beta tester, I have to say that PS3 owners are in for a great 2009 because this game will deliver.

2 weeks until I get to play GeoW 2 but the Resistance 2 beta is one of the most fun shooters since a while. I have Halo 3 and I don't even think it's anywhere near as fun/badass as this beta. I played R:FoM for quite some time and this sequel is a definite improvement on the game.

If Gears 2 can't surpass the enjoyment level of R2 online, then I'm going to be spending quite some time on my PS3 finally. I ended up spending more time on Resistance than GEARS but GeoW 2 seems to have some good improvements as well.

I'm having trouble deciding between choosing Resistance 2 or GeoW2 for online. I'm buying both without a doubt, but I don't have time to get decent at both at the same time. I've played both the 1st Gears and R:FoM but I spent way more time on resistance. The main thing that turned me off from the first Gears, was the whole shotty rushing bs that made the game so repetitive/lame.

Vote for which game you'll spend the most time on, and list the pros and cons of each if you wish to do so. I'll get it started first.

Gears of War 2 Pros/Cons:

Pros: Horde mode + other remade modes

Meatshields

Stopping power on weapons to eliminate the lame shotgun rushing

Overall balance fixes, which should make the game more enjoyable

Cons: Still the possibility for cheapness with one shot kill weps.

Smoke grenades can stun you (might add more tactical play or just be downright annoying)

Resistance 2 Pros/Cons:

Pros: Game modes seem improved and better

Online co-op looks super fun to play

Berserk gauge seems like a cool feature

Seems like an overall improvement on an already pretty decent game

Cons: And this is a personal preference... 60 player online (far too chaotic for me and makes maps extremely huge)

I think that's all I can think of on cons. R:FoM was overall a pretty enjoyable game.

[QUOTE="diz360"]

[QUOTE="ugz602"]Anyone with a recently repaired console have any problems? I want to know whether my refurbed will break again. Gokuja

Funny you should ask. I did - as have others. I'm on day 49. (Sorry to those who keep reading my updates.)

My theory is that M$ have not managed to provide a stable fix for their hardware design fault yet. A new 65nM chip is being developed that runs cooler and uses less power. But they're not putting it in the consoles yet as its not been produced. I've been told by M$ support "off the record" that they stick a new heatsink on the replacement motherboards and ship them out.

Did yours come back with 480p video settings? Mine did. As soon as I switched over to 1080i, the ring of death antics started happening again. So I'm wondering if their "extensive" testing at the repair centre really is that extensive. Surely, hi def punishes the system more than standard def.

I think M$ know this and don't want to break them before we can see the XBL screen and (in my case) pay up another month's subs. Then its back on the repair roundabout again until a proper fix is developed.

Dont beleive me? Why not a recall, rather than a guarantee extension for 3 years over a specific hardware issue? Moore resigning a coincidence?

I hope I'm wrong.

i had a problem with a refurbed system february of 06. i got a 360 at launch and it broke in jan-feb, then the one i got back (dont remember if it was mine or not) gave me 3 red lights a couple days later. the 3rd one i got was fine until now...yesterday it started freezing, showing a green screen once, but the other times it displayed those lines across the screen.

So now after a couple calls with ms support i'm hopefully gonna get a short repair period or a new replacement. the first time i called the person said since its my 3rd repair to request a new replacement, i did but to no avail. this was only when it was freezing (no red lights yet) and i would have to pay for repair. but i turned on my 360 an hour after the repair service called and got the red lights, i called MS support again and told him about the new replacement, again to no avail. i was told i would have to wait 3-5 weeks, i said no i want to speak to a supervisor. I told him what the first guy told me (from yesterday), i said i dont care if its not policy or anything, thats what the guy told me and thats what your gonna do. But i now have to wait until tomorrow until the repair center calls again to actually see if they will do that, or if i'll have to wait 3-5 weeks, which if i do I'm gonna demand free MS points or a game as others have done (some on only their 2nd repair). but if they dont break and i get nothing I'll be fine.

So basically my refurbished console is going to crap out on me again. This is very upsetting. I love the games on this machine, but why can't they just fix this crap for good?
