I hoping a 9/10.

But I think it all comes down to how much content there is in the game. I didn't play the beta or check out the previews, so I'm not sure what the feedback has been like so far. If it's light on content, it may drop as low as 7. If it's full of content, 9/10. Then 8/10 for something in between.

You can improve the game with mods so it's playable, but I wouldn't say he's entirely wrong. Objectively, the game is just crap. Lol

I played the game very late (maybe 2 years ago now) with a mediocre graphics card and one mod turned on - and the game was still amazing. So I'm not sure what happened to your objectivity there.

(the mod was to turn off the carrying weight limit - I'm just a hoarder. But I could've easily done without it!).

EDIT: Actually not a mod iirc. Just a cheat accessible on PC?

You glossed over all of my objective criticisms? That's not really how you debate. Well, it's not how someone wins a debate. :P

Not sure what happened, but you're not doing it right. Kind of like those old Sierra game errors. Lol

I don't need to go over your criticisms. I can go straight to your conclusion. You said the game is unplayable. I played it, and enjoyed it - without mods. You're objectively wrong. Likewise, go look at all the day-1 reviews (i.e. played without mods) which also expressed enjoyment.

I never said it was unplayable. Show me where I said it was unplayable. I said it was objectively crap. You haven't disproven anything I've said. You just stated your opinion(which you're entitled to), and didn't refute a single one of my criticisms.

You mean I'm subjectively wrong? Just because you enjoyed it, doesn't mean that anything I listed is wrong. The voice acting, the dialogue, the linear quests, the quality of the quests, the aspect of role playing which is limited to a shallow hack and slash system, a rudimentary stealth system, and a dumbed down magic system from Oblivion, which was already dumbed down from Morrowind.

Is any of that untrue? Please, go ahead and refute me.

I never said you couldn't enjoy it, by the way. You're simply plugging your ears and going "nuh-uh! I think it's so good!"

"You can improve the game with mods so it's playable".

i.e. it's unplayable without mods.

If the game is exciting enough, then I get it day.

Some disadvantages I can think of for late adopters:

1. Missing the zeitgeist. It's a lot funner to play a game when everyone is excited about it. E.g. Pokemon go.

2. For online multiplayer games, it may be difficult to join because the skill level is too high and you're new. Even if it had good matchmaking, over time, the pool of players to select from can get too small. E.g. counter strike.

I had the most fun with BotW, followed by Skyrim. I have only played Witcher 2, but I highly disliked it. It felt too structured for my liking, and I didn't like the combat mechanics. Not sure about Witcher 3 though.

So you may be familiar with Weta Digital (VFX company: Avatar, etc.) or Weta Workshop (physical manufacturing: they made The Game Awards trophy!), well there's a new division called Weta Gameshop which officially launched today. But they've been working behind the scenes for at least 6 years now.

They're working with Magic Leap on a new mixed reality game at the moment called Dr Grordbort's Invaders.

Links:

I think it's worth posting since Weta are top of their respective fields in VFX and physical manufacturing. So it'll be interesting to see what kind of impact they have on the gaming sector.

EDIT: To clarify, it looks like it's actually a division of Weta Workshop specifically.

@trugs26: your logic only stands when you create your own standards to apply it to. Nintendo’s always been one to walk to the beat of their own drum, so I’ll go by what they say, thanks. And in that, my logic stands.

Though why such a petty thing is so important to you fails me.

What you're saying is completely reasonable, but it doesn't discard my reasoning either. Your logic is using intention, my logic is using past trends. Both are valid ways of seeing how things will play out.

However, your claim is based on the assumption of a 7-10 life cycle. With that in mind, it's not a contradiction, and I do apologise for my previous petty response.

Every two years? No. One or two revisions during its lifespan, sure.

Well a 6 year console life span is pretty typical, so what you said is a bit of a contradiction, isn't it?

Year 0: Launch

Year 2: Revision 1

Year 4: Revision 2:

Year 6: Next gen.

Well, considering that Kimishima came out just one month ago and stated that he intends to support the Switch for 7-10 years instead of the average 6, no, I fail to see any contradiction.

He can say whatever he wants. Doesn't mean it'll be true. Going by actual trends, it's 5-6 years. And even if he managed 7 years, my logic still holds true.
