@Slipstream720 When so many games today are just COD clones or pandering to the action crowd and on disc DLC and day 1 DLC happening more and more then ya I say gaming is dying. Its because of those stupid people who have caused published to do more DLC and pander their games that next gen we will probably have to buy the games voice acting and music as DLC.
I have always found it funny how Japanese creators will say they are behind the west but that is really not true. Maybe to a bro gamer or 10 year who has only played COD Gears Japan is behind but Japan is far from behind in game development. I know I use Catherine a lot but it is a good example. A game like Catherine would have never been released if some one brought it to an American company. I mean do you think EA or Activision would release a game like Catherine? No way. Or look at the detail put into Metal Gear Solid 4. It was a shooter but a shooter with a great story and heart and soul put into it.
@Vodoo Thats a good way of putting it. I myself am the opposite where I don't enjoy playing with a control unless I have too. Honestly drm and cd keys have never bothered me with the exception of GFWL, but I think the low prices kind of make up for it. Ya once we buy a pc its ours forever but we pay $10 for a we don't like its nothing compared spending $60 and having to keep it.
@Vodoo Thats one of the reasons I'm a PC gamer. I wouldn't be surprised if by next gen most hardcore gamers switch to PC and consoles are nothing more then COD clones and shovel ware with half the content being on disc DLC and addition DLC to come even later. Honestly I think when more people realize there is more free DLC on PC the prices prices Steam offers that will bring even more of the hardcore crowed to the PC.
@Vodoo I have that same fear too about there being another meltdown. However I feel companies such as Valve and CD Projekt Red will survive because they don't pander to the masses and have a strong fan base to support them. I mean next year video games could crash, nintendo, sony, and microsoft stock could be going down, game stops are closing, and Valve would still be fine and if they released Half Life 3 they would probably be set for life lol.
@GBASWFan Not to mention I get the feeling Diablo 3 wouldn't play well on consoles. Just look at Dragon Age Origins. I got in on ps3 before I became a PC gamer it the game play was boring to the point I couldn't enjoy the game. I get the feeling Diablo 3 would translate that way and then people who only play on consoles would go around telling everyone it sucks.
