So I don't really mean for this to be a 'thought of the day' post, but recently it's occurred to me that I kind of suck at playing games in multiplayer with other people. And I'm not quite sure why that is.

I play games a lot. I've been into video games since I was a child, and I'm 26 years old now. I've owned many consoles and handhelds, and played games on the computer. Most of that time was spent playing single-player games, though admittedly, I probably haven't beaten as many games as I should have given that time frame - I chalk it up to being to OCD about completing things in games.

But whenever I play video games with other people, it usually doesn't seem to go very well for me.

In FPS games, I often die more than I kill other players. I am frequently coming in last place, or else a low rank. In MMOs I never fared too well, I think the highest level I attained in WOW was maybe 50 or 60, if that.

Whenever I try to play games with friends, it usually starts off alright, but then we end up playing the game for different things, or want to do different things whenever we do play, and usually they end up with a higher rank and level than me and I don't really have much to show for my time with the game.

A little bit ago I was playing some Hearthstone, and I narrowly managed to win one random match, but during the second one I felt like I had all of my dignity pretty much taken away within about eleven turns.

I don't know why I'm not any good at playing games against or with other people. I'm just simply not. I'm happier playing games alone, with a CPU.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I'm not sure why I can't compete, or even have fun playing games with other people.

This sums up me on games

I think when im online i just panic and rush everything and sort of overreact

Or i just suck

But I'm with you buddy!

It is very similar to the 2013 version in terms of gameplay but the story-line is not quite as good (IMO)...

Still worth it though

I fully agree and it is annoying how (Non-Gamers) don't understand it...

Video games have addictive qualities just like any of the aforementioned substances. for me it feels closest gambling (Which I have had struggles with), obviously there isn't the risk of losing money but you still feel the highs and lows of achievement and failure.

Except for with FIFA, now this is genuinely concerning for me and so far I have been able to stay away from it getting too far, what is different to opening a Ultimate Team pack to Spinning a Roulette wheel? The reality is very little, other than the fact you are more likely to win on a Roulette wheel.

On gambling sites they have strict warnings, caps (Their side) and personal caps (your side). FUT has none of those things which means those that get addicted to the euphoria of packing great cards can end up spending £100's on FIFA on a yearly basis which is just madness.

EA's answer would be "if they are willing to spend that money, then we are simply allowing them to" BUT that is morally wrong, EA need to help players with addiction not just take money from them.

(Sorry for the rant)

Good thread!

I have to say now I have the full version of FIFA I am so disappointed

The gameplay is clunky

Defensively your players just stare at the ball

The AI seems worse than ever as players just stand still

Online games ALWAYS LAG... Regardless of who I am playing

Speed means nothing one second and then everything the next

Passing never goes where you aim

There is a longer delay between pushing a button and anything actually happening

On a POSITIVE, I played a couple hours on "The Journey" last night and really enjoyed it.

But I'm just so fed up with EA... SORT YOUR SERVERS OUT!

Don't fix what ain't broken (Defensive positioning)

Oh and the cut scenes with the referees are just soooooooooo frustrating, how long does he want to take to get a card out FFS!!!

Also, why is it always red for me?

Rant over...

Maybe I should try PES

These games were such great fun!

They would have aged so well, I remember #2 being quite creepy at times as well....

Put so many hours into them games when I was younger..... Hmmmm.... Wonder why I failed my exams

I would have to say the old KOTOR games, seemed to really draw you in and send your emotions all over the place.

Oh and Pixel Piracy - There is nothing quite as devastating as when one of your crew dies...

Rainbow Six Siege is probably my #1 for 2016 but I haven't really played that many new games to be fair..

Really enjoying Day of Infamy at the moment as well... If you haven't heard of it, it's an early access game on steam but with some potential I feel, my video shows it in more detail https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S3fKiL7fOVA

Hoping for better in 2017..
