"An advance copy of the game was provided by Warner Bros. for review."

Shouldn't you precise what is the exact edition of the game you reviewed ? Is it the standard, silver, or gold ?

I heard there are some important difference in the SP campaign between the versions. The most expensive edition gets 2 orcs tribes and 2 story arcs that are not present in the standard edition.

From my point of view it should be a given that Gamespot reviewed the Standard edition, could you confirm that ?

I'm expecting another round of review bombing on this one.

Hello Gamespot, ever wondered why alternative game critics on Youtube are winning over sites like Gamespot or IGN ? You just illustrated why. This NBA 2K18 game is riddled with microtransactions and still, you give it an 8 ? And after that, you wonder why your viewership is disappearing ?

For an honest discussion about NBA 2K18 being utterly anti-consumer, see Jim Sterling on the subject :

For the lack of independance bteween "Professional game critics" and publishers see this video :

Brothers in arms Earned in Blood is a very good WWII tactical FPS. Issuing the right orders to your teammates and flanking the enemy is crucial for success.

When everything works (and you're winning LOL), the experience is truly immersive and exhilarating

However, the tactical overhead map can really be problematic (at least on Xbox on which i played). It was very rare that I saw what I wanted to see with it. This view is based on a camera position that is unwieldy, often does not show you the battlefield far enough, does a bad job giving you an idea of orientation and that at worst swivels in a very disorienting way whan you switch units. I think a simple 2D map seen from above would have been much more practical than the 3D representation used in the game.

Champions of Norrath is a good Hack & Slash action RPG.

The Good:
- combat has some punch and never gets old
- some nice physics chen you open chests/break crates
- Addictive loot gatherig
- good storyline length (40-50h)

The Bad:
- levels / enemies can get really repetitve after 50% of the game
- story / characters are laughably bad, the script is full of fantasy stereotypes and could have been written by a computer. No lived experience is transmlitted by the story. Pitch is : "The orcs have invaded the land of the Elves blablabla". The end boss (who is really, really evil of course), says "I will make you understand the meaning of pain". Really uninspired.

@autumnvarela: Sadly it's probable they'll do more and more micro-transactions and pay-to win. NBA 2K18 from 2K is currently under fire for this reason : the whole game has become infested with micro-transactions everywhere. Expect to hear a lot from this topic in the coming years. A consumer revolt is looming.

In the multiplayer gaming field (like in financial marketplaces) there is something called the "network effect" : you won't buy a game that nobody plays even if you love it, because you won't find anybody to play with. Basically it means this business model is winner-takes-all oriented : some big franchises will grab the huge majority of players, and the others will likely be failures.

So I fear Lawbreakers business model was flawed from the beginning. It was doomed to fail if you don't have huge investments and marketing expenses to make the game succeed (I guess PUBG is a kind of exception to that reasoning, but exceptions are rare...)

In financial markets it's called "liquidity". This liquidity (i.e. the presence of great numbers of buyers and sellers) usually gathers in some international market places like London and New York. It dries up at other places, like local stock exchanges, where you will struggle to find a counterparty.

It also explains the success of Facebook : everybody flock to "the one" social network because it's where other people are. The competition dies (MySpace etc.).
