This makes sense. They are big enough to do this and they don't want Valve to share the profits they are getting from all that GTA V money. That game is printing the company free money for the virtual toys people are willing to pay for instead of spending an insane amount of time to earn them. RDR 2 will sell boatloads of copies and I doubt the amount of people who won't use the rockstar launcher will offset the more money they will make not being on steam anymore.

@speed45823: Wow that was incredibly well researched and informative. I don't think it's just about "greed" and ends there. The developer of industries of titan said epic's exclusivity deal will allow them to hire more people and make a better game in the long run, which I do believe. I fully understand that independent developers don't simply have money and help around to safely make a game without any risk, and selling games as early access isn't always the answer. The developer of ooblets though I could care less from, because of their rude response to the fans AND they are double dipping (in my eyes) with the epic deal and doing a patreon.

People who say it would've sold higher if it was on steam too and should be on both at launch are completely missing the point. Steam's cut from hosting games on steam has been an issue for a while with developers because it's a big cut, but they aren't getting much support compared to what Sony and Microsoft offers, which makes sense because has a massive amount of games compared to Sony and MS combined. As much as I enjoy using steam, it does need competition and (independent) developers do deserve a bigger cut of the sales which valve does not want to budge on, unless the game hits the 10 million mark, which is not realistic for most games out there. Being forced to wait for a game to come out on Steam is better anyways imo because by the time it comes out you'll either not care about it anymore and saved yourself 60 bucks or the game be much better optimized and maybe even have more content than launch.

I could care less about the studio name dropping Just because you worked at a notable studio doesn't mean your next gig will be as successful. Yooka Laylee compared to the developers of Hat in Time is proof that new developers can make better games than experienced ones. I've waited years for Microsoft to come out with some must have games and so far they are all talk and no show, except with the Forza Horzon games which I love.

Remember they said Battleborn will be their biggest game ever? The probably wanted it to blow up and become the next e-sport and Overwatch took all that thunder. Gearbox was originally gonna hire outside help to make borderlands 3 and they just wanted to focus on making and maintaining Battleborn. I never cared about that game and glad to see that they are doing borderlands 3 again.

@nintendians: This is no different than The X-men. At least deadpool 2 called out on it, as lazy at the writing in that movie was (which they also called out on, but didn't make it any better).

This is smart. People didn't care about another MIB movie since the last 2 sucked, but casting those 2 actors from Thor Ragnarock will generate more interest because that movie was so good. This doesn't make think this movie will be any less sucky though, unless Taika Waititi was directing it. I loved What we do in the shadows and will watch anything he makes now.

@swesco: Because games that do this tend to make you grind at an unreasonable rate to get you to spend money. It's worse with f2p games and I'm not saying this game will make the grind more extreme, but because the option is there I bet Capcom will do what they can to convince people to spend the money for orbs.

@Thanatos2k: agreed. People weren't really missing out on a ton watching the games on youtube. I feel like I could get way more satisfaction playing a good visual novel game over anything TT has made because they were so IMO well written, like the nonary games and danganronpa.

What he said doesn't bother me but I can see guardians 3 making a lot less money than it could've because a lot of people have made up their minds about him after seeing those tweets and see his costume at the party he went to.
