Sony should do backwards compatibility but at this point they have zero motivation to do so. It is a selling point but not a major one. Plus the PS4 has phenomenal sales so there is little to gain from it. If I was Sony I would be using my R&D resources to start creating the next generation of console.
Breath of the Wild taught us open world is here to stay, not that open world could be interesting, again. Unless you want to skip over three masterpieces in Skyrim, Fallout 4 and Witcher 3.
While FFXII is not in my top 5 favorite FF games, it is a well crafted game. It is different than a lot of other FF's, which is why some people love it and others hate it. Personally I enjoyed it a lot and I am glad they are going to re-master it. I would argue it is better than the more recent releases, XIII and XV included.
Is the Co-Op design really a negative? If you bring in a buddy who knows the map that is your own choice. No different than bringing in a high level friend in Diablo.
@Gelugon_baat: Let us pray as much. At the very least we can hope From Software will never sell out and make a 10 hour souls game that any scrub can beat.
@Zombie8814: Nioh if definitely not the game for you. Souls style games are for a specific type of gamer who enjoys long games that are very difficult.
@Orontes13: Keep in mind Dark Souls came out 5 years ago and Demon's Souls came out 7 years ago. The Nioh team has had 5 souls games to learn from. The Souls series figured out the formula and other companies now have the luxury of using and improving upon it.
I love the fact that other companies are starting to use the Souls formula. A lot of people are drawn to this style of game and it is the ultimate flattery to From Software.
@hiro4476: I get what you are saying but a game like Cuphead is not in the same league as a game like Bloodborne. You listed a lot of small scale indie games, which are fun, but they are not something that you can hang your hat on as a system seller. Let alone as a comparison to well reviewed AAA games.
