so i picked up call of duty 4 tonight at walmart and i was instantly impressed with the single player gameplay and obviously the graphics. however when i tried to go online with a couple friends i ran into trouble. when i was host and i tried to start a game, it wouldn't find any players to play with. when i tried to join a friend's game, it loaded the map but then disconnected me, saying "couldn't connect to the host". when i try to find a match, it says there is 0 players online for both free for all and team deathmatch. my NAT is "open". anybody have any ideas on how to fix this problem?

So I'm a 16 year old with no job. I really want a 360 to primarily play 2 games: MLB 2k7 and FIFA 07. I will be getting a job once summer starts, so my question is this: Since my priorities aren't really to play online at the moment, would it be worth investing on a core system and 3rd party component cables on Ebay right now so i can play those two games until summer starts then upgrade with the HD, headset, and live gold once i  get a job? Thanks in advance

here's my humble setup...will be a Wii60 soon. its simple, and inexpensive, but it gets the job done. sorry for the darkness

-30 inch widescreen insignia HDTV
-direct TV PLUS HD/DVR reciever
-wii with: component cables, SC: Double Agent, Call of Duty 3, Madden, Monkey Balls, Zelda & Trauma Center
-PS2 with: svideo, 120 gig hard drive
-pelican HD system selector
-cockateil and parakeet
