That looks awfully similar to the past design. Also, the article says they think it feels "looser"... is that really what you want?

Finally, it's a limited release edition that goes with PES 2009 (or some such game.)

Day one purchase for me!

This is one fewer game on the list of games that made me want a 360. I could always have waited until I eventually put together a good gaming PC, but I like my gaming on the PS3 anyway.

The pro-Sony guys dogpiling on this are just as bad as the pro-MS guys jumping on any sales spike the PS3 has in the US.

In other words, business as usual.

You must really hate life if this is what you do for fun.

P.S. None of those games looked like that on my TV - I just played through Uncharted again (trophy run!) and was constantly impressed by the graphics, including most especially THE TEXTURES. Are there any 360 games where you can look into a polished stone wall that has cracked and chipped and see the reflection of the windows behind you in real time in the polished stone? That one still blows me away.

I don't know why I'm even responding. Too much free time at work, I guess.

Holler to the internets all you want to try to justify your pay-for-play service. You can't convince me that what you're paying for is better than what I get for free on my PS3. I've had a gamertag, used Xbox Live, and the fact that so many people pay for it astounds me.

On PSN I have over 50 friends. At any given time of day there are between 5-20 people online. As soon as I log on I am greeted by a message or two from some hard & fast gaming buddies, asking what we're playing tonight (today). We communicate via our long-awaited in-game XMB (or maybe a chat on the XMB before the game) and easily set up a party to head off into the battle (or whatever). Some games even offer dedicated servers for us to play on. In fact, some games even allow me to use my own PS3 as a dedicated server while I'm not using it - meaning I can set up a room with rules I know my friends like and they could play there while I'm asleep. Sounds like a pretty solid community to me.

I have downloaded several movies & TV shows, and I have to admit that I like that service better than I thought I would. I've purchased several episodes of Arrested Development for $1.99 each - don't they cost more like $2.50 on XBL? Plus the subscription fee?

Yeah, as far as I'm concerned, paying for Live is a joke. The SERVICE is not a joke, but the fact that you have to pay to use it - no thank you.

My final point: it's all what you make of it. Both services have good foundations - it all depends what you do with them. Don't discount one service or the other for supercilious reasons.

I know I won't buy one for several years after it comes out. I mean, even though people are saying the 360's hardware problems aren't as prevalent, but all the evidence I've seen says that's not the case. Have I missed out on 360 games? Um... no. Because I was playing all kinds of other games that kept me entertained.

Yeah, I'll be the prudent consumer and let all the ADD gotta-have-it consumerists put their hands on it first. You guys can be the test monkeys.

Looks like a Resistance 2 viral site or some such. I hadn't heard any news of this - can you tell me anything about it? I see a bunch of mock reports & such.

Pretty cool, though, thanks.

Better on XBL? Easier, maybe. Better, no. Keyboard & mic support, free online play, and really solid gameplay make it great. You guys want to get on internet forums and complain - enjoy that. My 360-only friend (he's working on getting a PS3) was really impressed with the general action, customizability, squad-based gameplay, graphics, and everything else about MGO.

Your quibbles do nothing to defuse that. People were clearly looking for something to bash about a game that received 10/10 here, and the online is arguably the weakest part of that 10/10. Even so, it's a great game that encourages teamwork and has very little lag that I've seen.

Haters go home.

So, are certain console owners too wrapped up in exclusivity deals to answer my honest questions?

Come on guys - it's abundantly clear that you're here.

Yes, it's a feature already found on another console. Yes, the other console's offerings are inarguably better, reflecting the amount of time it has been on the market.

That said, I was pretty impressed with the new video store on PSN. Seamless update (didn't even have to download anything!), integrated into the store with the same (excellent IMO) controls, and I was especially glad that Sony didn't try to launch the thing with just a show or two, a movie here & there.

There are many different genres & studios represented, pricing seems pretty reasonable for the most part, and there's no subscription fee required - you just pay for your movie or show & start downloading. Items can be streamed while downloading.

Get over the fanboy epeen stuff - how do the technicalities compare to the XBL video marketplace? How much is a TV show episode, a movie, or HD content on that marketplace? TV shows seem to run about $1.99 per episode on the PSN, movie rentals about $3.99, and of course you can buy an SD quality item for an exorbitant price.

Thoughts?
