And the messaging for these has been wonky for a while now. Im SUPER curious as to what Microsoft does for the next consoles cause they said they want to continue with the "series" branding; and they've used x and s twice now so what can they have left? The XBOX Series X2 lol? Sony was smart and stayed with something a little more user friendly and understandable.
But Im a pc gamer at heart and with Sony saying they're keen to the idea of continuing to bring their first party games to PC i might just be able to not get a new console at all lol. I already have a "one X" for blu-rays so i got that base covered!!

I suppose I misread a headline somewhere. As with your math, the difference is 4TF. I can't find the article, but memory serves it reading that the S is 4 Teraflops. I could imagine it continuing or reading something along the lines of "4 Teraflops weaker than" etc. etc.

This details the X at 12. With my misread, that puts the S at 1/3rd the power. Your math is still way off as the One X is 6TF, not 12. So... Idk where we're at here.
Further, it has long been rumored and reported that the PS5 digital is only lacking an optical drive. Otherwise it is identical. It may not be official, but it is largely regarded as truth, much as the way the Series S was before this morning.
The purpose of my comment wasn't to bomb a console, but to point out how, even at your comparison, the device is significantly weaker than that of the proper next gen consoles. I just feel that calling it "next gen" when it is largely not is misleading.
Sorry man lol, I spent too much time on Twitter this morning and it warped me a little. And yes i crapped up and got the numbers wrong on the gpu stuff, I should of done my research better before commenting; the series x is 12 and one x is 6 so it's half. Thanks for taking it easy on me :).
And on your point of it being weaker, sure it is but it's not aimed at the high end gamers, its price point will make it a tempting deal for a lot of casual or broke gamers on the price/ performance ratio. If it really has a new cpu, than the older gpu will be just fine for most games. The cpu was the bottleneck for both consoles this gen.
Now Im excited to see where Sony comes in at with their pricing, if they can be competitive and match Microsoft, cause we know they can't release the big ps5 for under $499.

Series X GPU - 16 TFLOPS
That's 3/4 the power man, do some math.
It's the same GPU as the Series X with the new CPU and SSD drives, which makes it WAY more than 1/3 as powerful.
Sony has said absolutely nothing about what differences the all digital edition ps5 has, literally nothing. So you have nothing to boast about, stop being a fanboy and be a gamer and celebrate all the consoles cause they all have great things to offer.
@mboettcher: This, my roommate has this and it's a great TV except for the really small viewing angle. Im rocking a Samsung 7 series and wouldn't mind getting the TCL while its cheap if I didn't already have a 4k TV.
@aross2004: Eh 3 is fine cause lots of people use a receiver so that's not a issue. Plus you gotta remember this is a cheaper price range TV so it's not gonna have all the bells and whistles of newer/ more expensive sets.
So really you can have a smaller screen and still see a difference at the proper distances though to me its a much smaller difference than going from 30 to 60 fps. And less people are sensitive to changes in resolution than the difference between 30 and 60fps so your probably right on the it not affecting your gameplay. But 4k is a nice sales pitch!!!
@attirex: What exactly are you looking for in NMS, it seems like your looking for other games in this. I want it to be GTA Space too but i had to temper my expectations a LONG time ago. I haven't played since the first update and it seems like they're really adding a lot more content to the game to keep you busy with stuff to do, but you gotta remember its not a epic space opera.
And yes Cyberpunk should be awesome if its really just The Wither 3 in space (or maybe like the OG prey 2 was gonna be)
@blitxxx1981: I hear somewhere from a xbox person that there will be options for what you want as far as performance (maybe only on 1080p tvs?). I'm trying to find the quote, I'll update this if I find it. Wish they would put out some more clear details on the subject.
@Mogan: Hopefully that becomes a feature soon in more games (console based), maybe then we'll get some good ol' RTS' on console. And thanks for not pouncing on the bad grammar!!! lol
@Mogan: This, after no touching a FPS on consoles for several months then trying this demo it felt like someone turned the mouse sensitivity all the way down and then some more lol, its just crazy the different between the two play styles.
