What did they release this year for exclusives? Halo Wars 2 (which was discounting to $30 within a month), Forza 7(everyone really wanted another one lmao) and Cuphead (a great indie exclusive but not a console pusher). Next year will be better as they do have Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and Ori 2 coming out. It's just they don't have the blockbusters, They don't have the big titles to draw people in. You have Halo, Gears, Banjo Kazooie, Fable. Do something with them and you are gonna make money in console sales, game sales, in game purchases and live sales.
@MJ12-Conspiracy: Like I said, At first it wasn't an issue and then it's boosted prices, more grinding to get them and the quality of the loot drops. Yes, It was purely cosmetic stuff when playing online but it made a difference offline and for multiverse challenges.
Injustice 2 tried this. At first I believe it was 1k for Bronze, 5k for Silver and 15k for Gold. A majority just paid for bronze to get shaders and abilities because most of the gear was junk (I could get epic gear with little to no stat value and have rare gear better than it). Over time, The cost of these boxes shot up because it hurt micro-transactions sales by making the in-game currency so easy to get and because the boxes were so cheap, There was no point in paying for the in-game currency. So with a few updates, They increased the price and decreased the chance of quality gear and thus turned a game I put nearly 100 hours into into a game that collects dust on my shelf.
Gamers really need to start standing up to this and stop supporting these games based solely off micro-transactions.
I'm a Xbox gamer and my friends, who have multiple consoles, mostly use either their PS4 or their Switch. Why? Because these consoles actually have games to play. Microsoft hasn't put out a good exclusive in quite some time and we all have to wait until 2018 before getting any of them (State of Decay 2, Ori 2, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves).
Yes, Cuphead was a great indie release and is selling well so props there. Forza 7 dipped a little bit but it's still easily gonna sell 2 million plus copies. Those games aren't gonna drive console sales though.
