@hystavito: I don't mean to sound rude and I'm not poking for a fight but define dead? In what terms are they dead? I get that for some people having a big tower in the livingroom might not be ideal but that doesn't mean PC's are dead.
@Megavideogamer: I'm not sure what Gartner are smoking and I'm not sure where they got their 'research' from but as it is at this point in time Oculus Rift CV1 min system specs are -
NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
Windows 7 SP1 64-bit or newer
I could slap together a PC that meets those requirements for about £550. So I'd say anyone who was interested in building a half decent gaming PC (most of the steam community) would have gone with components that meet those specs or better them. So 1% seems a little off.
