About piracy you're just making random excuses that don't make sense (it's a fact that a lot of people play their games, when you look in any place, apparently everyone experienced most of their games, but for some unknown reasons all that happens contradicts the money they make from their games, might not be 95%, but it's at least 60% on both PC and Xbox), what I said is not relevant was the part where you say "it's not piracy because other companies make money".

As I said in my previous post with that example, it's a naive thing ro say or probably you don't understand how the world works. Here's another example, this time easier to understand, just because Bill Gates has billions in shares and hundreds of millions in his pocket, it doesn't mean that you'll make even 1 million $ in your entire life.

I'm not sure if your just trolling me or if you intentionally or ignoring my point, but i get the feeling it's the former so this will be my last attempt to explain.

Ubi blames piracy for the reason their PC games don't make a profit. The fact is they have no way to know whether that's true because every pirated games doesn't represent a lost sale. Many pirates would never spend a dime on a game while others may buy a game even after they pirate it. There is simply no way to know how many sales are actually lost. More to the point, Ubi has no way to track every copy of their games being pirated. The only thing Ubi can state with certainty is they are not profitable on PCs; everything else is speculation on their part.

On the other hand, almost every game ever made has been pirated, yet many devs are still profitable. This includes games with no DRM or multiplayer components. So obviously there are more factors than just piracy at work that determine why a PC game is or isn't profitable.

Could it be that in Ubisofts case that it is only due to piracy? Yes, anything is possible. However, based on the backlash against their always online DRM and the complaints about the changes they have made to some of their games, there is a strong likelyhood there are more plausible reasons for their lack of profits.

Finally, your Bill Gates analogy simply doesn't work as I am not in the same position as Mr. Gates. On the other hand, comparing Ubisoft to other devs such as EA, Activision, Valve, Capcom, etc. makes sense because they are in the same fields, share the same audience, have comparable resources, and have the same obstacles (namely piracy).

However, in the event this doesn't sway you, rather than continue a pointless argument I think it best that we simply agree to disagree.

[QUOTE="myke2010"]

[QUOTE="DanielDust"] Ask yourself, how is that relevant? Ubisoft makes no money on PC, why do you think they should care about other companies that make a decent profit? they don't care and they shouldn't, it's not their business. rhazzy

It's relevant because their excuse for not making money is piracy; and the fact that plenty of other companies make profits on PC games completely discredits that excuse.

There is no such thing as "plenty of bla bla"...How many company's are making Triple A games on PC with a profit that can sustain the initial investment???

Some Vale games,The Witcher,The Sims series maybe CoD series and SC series...Ofc there are alot of other games out there which makes profits but those games are low to mid budged games...How many companys can afford to spend 100 mil $ on a game and make profits solely on PC?I think u can count them on the fingers of one hand...So when you say "plenty bla bla" it sound unlogical...

In order to make good games with high quality developers needs a lot of money...the PC market cannot sustain big budged games...that would mean every big budged game would have to sell 1 mil + on PC alone(to cover the cost and make nice profits)...How many games on pc sell millions these days? And not when they are on sale with 10 bucks...iam talking about full price...very very few games do that...

So NO...the word "plenty" cannot be associated with making money on PC or profits...

And ofc how many Triple A games makes profits on console? The majority of the big budged games make decent to huge profits on console alone:

AC series

FIFA series

Oblivion and Skyrim made the most profit on xbox360

Mass Effect series

LA Noir

GTA series

Gears of War

Dragon Age

Dead Space series

Bioshock series

Batman AA & AC

Resident Evil series

CoD series

NFS series

Crysis 2

Homefront

Fallout NV

Almost every exclusive, either for ps3 or xbox

Even BF 3 sold more on consoles

etc ,etc, etc,...

So what we'r talking about here??

You need to reread my post. Nowhere did I say anything about exclusives. In fact, I didn't even discuss wether PC or consoles made more money and don't care to do so. PC games include ports of console games just like console games include ports of PC games. So my point stands.

As to what you're talking about here, I honestly have no idea as it had nothing to do with the post I made.

That's exactly why it isn't relevant, besides the first part doesn't make sense, because Ubisoft's been robbed so much by PC gamers it doesn't even have pants and socks left.

You wouldn't say "oh shut your mouth...me, Sony -or other huge company- makes money" if your company almost went under.

So ubi blames piracy for not making money on PC, but that's not relavant? Ubisoft wasn't robbed, they put out games with some of the worst DRM ever conceived and made changes to franchises that long time fans didn't like, thus losing customers. If Ubi doesn't want to waste time on the PC I'm perfectly okay with that, I understand that they have a bottom line to worry about. But let's not kid ourselves about the real reason they aren't making a decent profit.

Other than the DX11 issues, I haven't had any problems. Even GFWL has worked well, and that should be considered high praise as I've found it extremely intrusive in the past.

Ubisoft:we know that 95% of our consumers will pirate the game.

This has to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard from any dev. If people pirate your game then by definition they are not your consumers.

In any case, 95% is a meaningless number as there's no way to track individual pirated downloads. Even if there were, it still wouldn't mean anything without supporting context. For example, a game that sells a million copies but is pirated 95% of the time still makes the devs a profit. The issue here isn't piracy, its that the combination of Ubisoft's terrible DRM and massive changes to classic franchises has driven away most of their customers.

If piracy was as bad as Ubi claims then how do they explain so many other PC games being so profitable?

[QUOTE="FPSfan1985"][QUOTE="Advid-Gamer"] Turn off dx11 and there is no problems, still looks fantastic, I wouldnt call it a technical mess by any means.Advid-Gamer

But it is in fact a mess.

How? I have lie 13 hrs in the game and no problems at all since I turned off dx11, here we go, people crying over nothing once again.

Same here. With DX11 turned off the game is silky smooth, still looks great, and I've only encountered one or two minor bugs in over 10 hours.

[QUOTE="NoAssKicker47"][QUOTE="dudy80"]

I could see space marine going on sale at christmas, the others its doubtful.

CosmoKing7717

Yeah, of all these titles I think that's the only one that has a chance to go on sale.

I could easily see deus ex for 33% off. Possibly 25%.

I'll be surprised if Deus Ex isn't on sale by Christmas, but I've got such a huge backlog right now it really doesn't matter. At least Witcher 2 should see a good deal this sale so I can always toss that onto the pile of stuff I've yet to play.

Skyrim, Deus Ex and Space Marine aren't on sale. Yay!! I get to keep my money.....for now. Hopefully they are marked down for the Christmas sale. I'm actually really happy Batman AC isn't on sale as I just got it yesterday.
