Unfortunately in the gaming community as in other areas of life, there are those who are not simply content to say hey I don't like this, or I am not into this. In fact people who are likely to make such a calm and reasonable post would normally not bother posting at all! as they often do not have strong enough motivation to do so. Where as a significant portion of people who are motivated to post negative comments are often motivated to go far beyond what is reasonable or even relevant. Often taking any opportunity to attack anything they perceive as a point of sensitivity. You only have to look at the console fanboys to see how far this can go. Beyond even that there is the bullies kicking down sand castles phenomena! some people are just motivated to attack anything they see other people care about or put effort into, because it allows them with relative ease and zero consequence to cause pain which they find empowering. describing these issues as sexism or racism is actually masking the underlying problems of human nature as more often than not the race or gender issue is just a convenient tool and ultimately irrelevant to the abuser. I am not saying there are not issues of race or gender to be resolved, only that what we most often portray in the media as sexism or racism is more often assholeism plain and simple. the problem there is that our discussions come to nothing as we are often having the wrong conversations.
They destroyed this game, I had challenging fun in mid to late beta but 2 weeks after release I uninstalled it as it is is a dire broken mess less than a 5 out of 10 from me, no way am I grinding that crap again
Well if it has proper targeting and not point click rubbish like a proper action game and also a streamlined hotbar system like guidwars2 I am all for it. All those endless hotbars need to be buried in the bin of history.
@ecurl143 @kyphe That is exactly what it is like with game development and many other creative fields like TV and movie work, the project is done you go home, you are typically hired for that job and no one expects to be kept on after their job is done unless they have been told well in advance that they will be kept on as par of the full time staff, you do hope for more work on the next project or expansion however and should expect it if you have given good service. What these layoffs tell us is that we should not expect to much in terms of new content in the dlc as most of it will be using tweeks of existing assets
working on a game is like working on a construction project, when its done they do not need you any more and you move on. However your pay reflects the fact that you spend time out of work and you are expected to budget for those times and not think you are loaded every time your paycheck goes in the bank.
@cogadh @kyphe At least in the UK, its hard to say what Is legal in the USA due to your states having such differences, but state or public libraries will follow ESRB as a matter of course
@cogadh @kyphe A minor who buys, rent or lends via a library a M rated game is not breaking the law, but anyone who is found to have sold rented or lend from a library an M rated game to a minor can face legal action and at the very least loose their job
@Fighting40 it is Illegal for a library to lone an M rated game to a 10yo in the first place, additional unnecessary restrictions amount to fascist moral oppression
The evidence shows that male gamers between 15 and 30 are less likely to commit violent crime than their peers, violent games often have the effect of making people realize just how vulnerable life is, how often do you die in a game their is no re-spawn IRL and we all know it
