@alexofburg: If you find this slow, then Dark Souls combat must seem like slow motion to you. Although not as fast as the old GOW, this is way faster than DS, not comparable. Had you said Nioh, maybe, sure.
The only resemblance I can see so far to DS combat is that positioning seems to matter more now than in the old GOW. I wouldn't compare the two titles otherwise.
I also don't think it'll be as unforgiving for mistakes as DS is.

@jonparkes84: I also prefer steam and buy most of my games through steam albeit via kinguin for a vastly cheaper price. As for GOG, it is precisely those old games updated to run on newer systems I'm after. Games of today might have better graphics but they lack so much in gameplay alot of the times. Sometimes you just want to play one of those older games again and gog is a good place to get them.
Also like that I don't need the client, just get the files and save them and install them whenever and wherever.

@n00bsla3r66: Depends on what you are after. What kind of games do you play, what target performance do you have as the norm for your rig, budget etc.

I'm not the best one to give advice for most pc gamers as I myself always go all in when I build a rig but then have it for 4-5 years playing at that same level, then sell it and build another. I don't do the "reasonable" approach and then upgrade one or two components. I also spend unnecessary extra cash on bling and care how my pc looks. My next build will be when the next gen nvidia gpus are released and my aim will be 4k/60+ as the norm for that rig. I really don't have a budget but I guess it'll land somewhere around 3k-3.5k depending on much bling I add. I'm older, have a good well paying job and control over my finances so I'm lucky enough to be able to afford and go ridiculously and wastefully overboard with my builds. They are far from good from a performance per price point of view... ;)

@translucent17: The gpus are expensive due to the miners. How much more depends on where you live. Where I live they are around 15% more expensive than their mri. So it would cost me almost the same to buy a pre-built pc from a big builder (who get's cheaper prices due to buying in bulk) as to build the pc myself. In some countries it is even cheaper to buy a pre-built now than building it yourself.

Before the mining craze you'd pay 10-15% more for a prebuilt over the same specs built yourself.

I'm still building my next rig myself once the new gen nvidia gpus hit the market, but that's because I actually like building my rigs, and I also spend extra time and money on the looks. But if you are only in it for performance vs price, you are way better of buying a prebuilt pretty much anywhere right now.

It's not a big issue since the adapters only lets the mouse emulate the regular sluggish movement of the analog stick. It's not the split second direct input as on pc. You still can't turn on a dime. Personally I find it even more frustrating to play with such poor mouse control over a controller. It's not even close to the fast and smooth aiming of pc shooters. If it is implemented officially and works exactly like mouse and keyboard on pc then it'd be a bigger concern for controller players on console.

Also depends on the game, GOW4 and other "console shooters" has capped speeds unlike most shooters so you can still only turn "so fast" despite using a mouse on pc.

@Yams1980: I might agree with you in terms of building expansive systems like this for the sole purpose of mining. Bitcoin isn't worth it anymore btw. But using your gaming pc to mine during the night or when you are at work only stopping when you actually use the pc... I mean why not. Don't get rich at all but still get more than you'd get with the pc turned off even with the increased electricity bill. Over time you potentially get fully fledged pc quality gaming with a closer to console price tag or cheaper in some cases.

@xhawk27: No, not interested in no customisation, a restrictive closed system and 30fps as the norm. Not to mention I'd still need to get a pc anyway in addition to a console since the X is useless for anything but gaming and netflix.

So basically I can just get a trial run or pay for one month or two once there are enough games out I'm interested in, play through them all for 0-20$. Good for me, there isn't a single xbox exclusive out that I felt is a game I wanted to keep anyway, but sounds bad for business and very desperate. This looks like a hit they are willing to take as preparation to fully convert into games as a service on any device rather than their console. And that is a future I'm not interested in at all. Especially if the option to actually buy the games you like is only through their store at the ridiculous prices they have, because all retailers are dead. Luckily pc is still going strong as an option, there is ample competition there hence the low pc game prices.

@lonesamurai1: I'm not a 100% Intel guy even though I've been using Intel for my last two builds (my last AMD was the Athlon 64, basically alternated between Amd and Intel before that). I'm up for building a new rig later this year as my old one is around 5 years by then and I'm not going to upgrade my old rig. I already have buyers for it lined up. Ryzen actually isn't written off for my new build.
However I am a Nvidia guy. Have had a Amd gpu once and never gone back. Also my Asus ROG Swift pg348q has g-sync so obviously I need a Nvidia card to take advantage of it.
