@doctormabuse71: Yeah atleast age is very true. And alot of wisdom comes with age. I've played consoles and pc since the 80s. In the beginning more console than pc and since the 2000s more pc than console. But I always had atleast one console per gen in addition to my pc, currently the ps4 pro.
One big correlation with pc and older gamers is also they tend to have a much higher income and can invest in pc. And often, as in my case, they need a pc anyway for work. So why buy or build a shitty workstation and a console instead of putting the console money into buying/building a proper rig.
But again, because I can, I still get a side platform if it offers enough imo stellar experiences I can't get on pc, the obvious choice here this gen for me is ps4. Nintendo doesn't have enough that appeals to me, neither does xbox, and I also can get better versions of most of xbox games on pc anyway.
@j3diknightdave: It's not as simple as that just because money exist. Bill Gates wouldn't use his money for this. he owns a majority share of MS but it is a publicly traded company, they can't use money for exclusives just like that. They are obliged by law to make money for the shareholder. Xbox is one of their least profitable businesses, it's minuscule compared to their other endeavors. They can't just have access to "all that MS money". They are allocated a budget and have to pitch for any extra with strong arguments and showing of strong potential sales or earnings, seeing as xbox are very low priority compared to MS other business areas they don't have much relative bargaining power.
Sony on the other hand makes most of their money in gaming and related areas, hence why they also willing to invest more in it.
It's a myth that because MS is much richer than Sony, that xbox somehow automatically takes part in that in any significant number. Xbox isn't responsable for those riches and have very small piece of their "business pie" compared to the ps brand for sonys "business pie", they usually get invested in accordingly.
Imo looking at it "overall", Playstation wins here simply because the sheer number of games you actually need to use the console to play, in addition to the objectively higher avarage user and critic scores of these games.
Nintendo has some stellar games but not as many as Sony, and xbox, despite some very good games comes out last in the avarage user/critic department aswell as the fact that most of them are not really exclusive and they have fewer than sony.
@sodapoppimpski: Obviously subjective, but still valid point that many share as the metascore shows.
Other games that are bad or are rinse and repeat is not an excuse for this game. That's like you buying a new car that breaks down or have many defects and the dealer says, well that car from this other brand also breaks down constantly so you shouldn't complain.
The big difference here is this is an open sandbox game that is stale after 20h... add to that to not have the jargon with your friends, only doing the same three types of quests solo with no progression, not to mention you are f*cked if a team decides to **** you over, impossible to win. And they can corpse camp you and grief you on your ship indefinately if they want.
There should be progression, you shouldn't only need to grind for a hat or eyepatch. And OH do you need to grind for that, the prices for cosmetics are ridiculous in this game.
@sodapoppimpski: Obviously that is subjective statement. The game is fun for you. But I wonder how long you have played. I spent 20h on it and I've basically seen it almost all. All I can grind for is other looks and do the same type of fetch quests all over. It is not really fun anymore to do the same thing over and over. It was fun the first hours IF you play with friends (it is trash if you want to play SP), but the lack of depth argument kicks in when those initial hours of novelty dissapears. I'm not fetching anymore crap or killing anymore skeletons just to get money for a new hat.
@Zazabar: Well so far I've gotten Alice madness returns, Dead Space, Plants Vs Zombies, Syberia II and this game. Only the last two are games I never heard of. I never got to play Alice on the ps3 so it was a nice game to play when I got it despite it's age, PvZ was okay but not my cup of tea and Dead Space is right up my alley. I played the original on ps3 but on pc with all the extras and locked 60fps it's a much better experience, I loved to play through it again.
These offerings are not really fantastic but hey, I got origin for one game (the abomination Mass Effect Andromeda). I got these games for simply having an account, why bother complaining, still better than not getting anything. No one is forcing you to play them.
I loved the old fast hack and slash GOW but I think I'll like this game too. I'm not against changing the formula of games if it still is good. Atleast the hits on this game seem to have real impacts this time wich was always something that bothered me with the old GOWs. Not 100% sure about the crafting, that might be to much of a pace slower for a game like this.
My biggest grief though is like most console games, half the framerate of my minimum wanted... a shame since the older games where close to 60. Wish Sony would go the Microsoft route and have pc versions of all their exclusives. Then I could sell off the ps4 and go 100% pc, but that will never happen. These games are what makes people like me still buy their system. ^^
