I also have my PS3 and my PS2 hooked up to the same television that is connected to my PC tower.

I can move any of them to the family room and connect to the other TV if and when I desire.

Five years ago I spent 450 USD on an Acer with integrated graphics and I can still play most games.

Skyrim, Mass Effect, Oblivion and even Crysis with no problem.

you can get a decent PC that will play almost all games for less than a PS4 or an xBox1

mine cost less than the PS3 or 360 did at launch and after 5 years I haven't even bought a graphics card although a new card would improve things a bit it isn't necessary to play the majority of games.

and for most of us there are always other expenses that are more important than video games.

a new washer/dryer - a new stove - a new mower - there is always something for the house that I have to get which required putting off that next video game or new PC for another year or so.

I put a few dollars aside each month in the hopes I will eventually be able to spend it on something gaming related.

my dad still uses a VCR, some of the really old shows he likes only come on tape.

I have DvDs and Blu Ray.

I notice that it doesn't take much to amuse certain types of people lol
